TaShawn Thomas ready to make his NCAA debut

I'm not a great fan of Thomas. For long stretches of a game he is a defensive zero or even a liability. He doesnt block out consistently and just disappears on both ends. He needs to take a handful of "mean" pills. When he is aggressive he is effective but that comes in flashes then disappears.

oh really? well ... he told me he's not a great fan of YOU either.

uh huh.

How do you like that?

I could argue that TaShawn will be our most important player in this tournament, especially in the first round. Albany will not have anyone that can match up with him, so we need him to be aggressive. I know Albany is a poor 3P% defensive team, but I worry about us getting 3 happy here.

Why will Peters not be able to adequately defend him?

Why will Peters not be able to adequately defend him?

Because he only averages 11 mins (2.3pts, 2.3rebs, 0.2blks 0.2stls) a game?

Actually I think Thomas could plan an important role in the game, maybe give us a focus for some easy buckets and keep from falling behind, while the long range shooters settle in. (as long as they look for him)

random: DJ Bennett's stat line
8 mins (1.9pts, 1.8rebs, 0.7 blks, 0.2 stls) giving up 3 inches and 50 + lbs to Peters

It doesn't look to me like Peters even starts for them. He averages 11.1 minutes per game (2.3 points and rebounds per game). He's played a total of 39 minutes in their last 5 games (including one DNP). I don't think he's much of a factor.

For what it's worth, it looks like their starting forwards go 6'4" and 6'6". Height doesn't always tell the entire story, but at least on paper, this is a game Spangler and Thomas should dominate.

Yeah, it is odd, but according to the Albany site, he has started 23 out of 30 games played, but seems like he is the kid you let off the bus first to impress the other team, but then sits on the bench for the game
