Tashawn Thomas

The only power the NCAA has is the power that schools/people give it.

All schools should break ties with the NCAA right away.

:)

And have no governing board at all? Disaster waiting to happen.

Oh, you want to form a new board? It would end up exactly like the NCAA.

It is my understanding the University still hasn't turned in the Thomas appeal.

Good question. I know that basketball practice is still two months away, but it seems that enough time has elapsed for OU to file the paperwork by now.

If not, why not? Great minds want to know. It is hard for a fan to be patient since this topic has such a big impact on the team.

Maybe the process will now move along since the Fall Semester has begun, but who knows.

Why the wait? just hammering every point possible?

If the powers that be are still hammering on the points in the Thomas appeal, they need to get someone else to man the hammer.

This is beginning to sound more like bureaucratic feet-dragging in the athletic department than anything else. No way our coaches would take this long to send the paperwork in on something as important to our basketball team than an attempt to get Thomas eligible to play this season. My guess is the admins have been so busy with matters involving DGB, Mixon and Shannon, the Thomas appeal was put on the back burner.

Sure hope I'm wrong. But, if that is the case, Joe C should be ashamed of himself!

That's different than Gary indicated a few days ago after talking with Thomas

I asked Thomas two weeks ago if he had heard anything on his waiver request. He said no. He thought then that something would happen the next week. That would have been last week. I checked with a couple of people the other day and apparently nothing came down as expected.

The process is that the university request a waiver of the transfer rule that requires a player to sit out a year. That request is either granted or denied. If denied, an appeal can be filed. Then, that appeal is either granted or denied. If denied, the decision can be litigated.

My best information is that the NCAA has yet to issue a ruling on the original waiver request. If that request is denied, OU will certainly appeal. They want him eligible and are willing to buck up some to get it done. However, even though it may not come in a timely manner, most around the program expect the waiver request to be granted.

What is your source for saying the waiver/appeal hasn't been submitted? Are you saying the initial waiver request was submitted and the NCAA denied it, so the ball is in OU's court to "appeal" that ruling? I would be very surprised if nothing had been sent to the NCAA at this point ..... Are you guessing or do you have a credible source? Just curious.

I doubt it. The DGB appeal was just filed a few days ago, and the football season starts in a week and a half. They must just really take their time with these things and be extra thorough.

They were waiting on paper from Mizzou or that would have been filed earlier.

Thomas has been here since May. No reason it shouldn't have been done already. It hasn't been turned in to be denied.

Feel free to not believe me it is your choice.
