Tashawn Thomas

He's not ready for big time conference play on the road. This ain't Houston anymore. We desperately needed him to be strong with the ball inside to stop their run and he just fluttered along.

If we want to compete in these games he has to step up otherwise we're going to see more of WVU and tonight.

That is ridiculous. He played against Louisville, Uconn and others last season. He had an off night.

When Houston played Louisville and Connecticut on the road last year they lost those games 91-52 and 80-43.

Anyway the point is he is going to have to adjust and get better and step up his game to the level of competition he's facing now. If he doesn't we're going to be in a heap of trouble finishing out Big 12 play.

He's not as bad as some of you all are making him...the only difference is the scouting report is out...been saying it weeks.

Thomas cannot finish going left or with his left hand...period. This isn't some new development, so unless OU gets him in position to score with the right, it won't happen. Couple that with KU have some bigs who can bang a little, he will be limited.

Thomas did not play well, but our guards also did him zero favors.

You mean the same teams Houston lost by almost 100pts to on the road?

The American was not a weak basketball conference. I doubt most of you guys could have competed in B league Greek intramurals at OU but you insult gifted athletes after every loss.

How is talking about the scouting report (which is a real thing) on a player an "insult"? So every Big XII team that has "Thomas can't finish left" on their scouting report is insulting him, even though it is primarily true?

Also, drop the "better athletes than you" crap, makes you sound like an uninformed soccer mom who doesn't have a clue about the game and can't offer any detailed analysis. I know for a fact there some people on here who played college ball in some form, but you ironically insult them. Rich.

You make this argument several times a season, and it is silly.

Just b/c most of us aren't physically capable of playing high level D1 ball, doesn't mean we don't know how the game of basketball is suppose to be played. Any judgements we make on players, is comparing them to their peers, not to Joe Blow from the internet.

Anyone that says Thomas can't compete in this league doesn't know basketball very well. It is an ignorant statement

Virtually known of you were college players. If you claim you were where, when and name. Your name is not a secret. You give it to total strangers all the time. Unfortunately it becomes burdensome on the internet when you want to lira output you identity

Not saying he can't compete in this league, but man did he have an awful night last night. Just seemed like he played timid, and was scared to take the ball to the rack. Oh well it's over, he has to regroup and come back strong against Baylor.

Please point out where someone in this thread said he couldn't compete? You are literally making stuff up.

On the road, against Texas, Thomas was a beast. Texas has just as big or bigger inside players than Kansas. I'd like to see more of Thomas in the high post and let Spangler stay on the baseline.

Many of the best golf teachers in the game are not the best players of the game. Surprised? And some perspective is necessary if not a whole bunch of it. This is a message board and a message board not populated by androids at that. Given this, there is always going to be a difference of opinion. Not sometimes, but always. There is not one individual on this site, or planet for that matter, who exists just to sooth your ego regardless of your stated positions on life. This board reflects life in a microcosm and not "mother may I". Accept it!

I completely understand your point Denver. And of course the lash back is always "show me where I said blah blah blah". Have you bashers heard of the word sentiment?? Because that seems to be your message...that Thomas can't compete. He had a bad game, everyone knows it. So why do you all feel the need to continuously bash the kid over and over just because he hasn't met your lofty expectations?? It really gets old.

Just repeated what Bill Self, Bob Huggins and Bruce Weber's scouting reports read.

I'm disappointed in Thomas so far.

I was premature in defending Thomas in the first half last night. He did not play well, and the fact that Bennett was on the floor in the second half until around the four minutes mark, made it clear Kruger noticed his poor performance.

While TaShawn needs to be more aggressive on the boards and in posting up down low, he has been anything but a disappointment in most games. I shudder to think about where we would be without him. Just the thoughts of an inconsistent Bennett and Lattin, who is not playing well of late, as the only post players on our roster is enough to get me through any thought I might have of being disappointed when Thomas is not at his best.

And this is why it is discussed.

Right here. The guy had a bad game. In fact, he had his worst game of the season. However, after every loss there are OU fans that just go after a player in a mean spirited manner.

Why not just say Thomas had a bad game rather than he is not ready for big time conference play?

Thomas is a really good player. He makes OU a better team.

In my opinion the real problem is inconsistent offensive production from the bench. OU got 7 from its bench. KU got 31.

No, the comment was based on Thomas' performance in conference, on the road. His current road conference stats back that up...

6pts/gm, 6reb/gm, 32FG% and three TOTAL free throws attempted...while avg 30min/gm.
