Texas A&M officially leaves the Big 12

I dont get it, Bama plays 5 preseason top 25 teams and 1 top 10.

OU plays 5 top 25 & 3 top 10.

Bama goes on the road to play #20,#22, & #23.

OU goes on the road to play #5/6 and #9.

Where is this crazy difference?

Who cares about preseason rankings? Means nothing. Just look at the frickin' schedules and teams. Would you rather play OSU or Florida? aTm or LSU? As for FSU, being a road game makes it tough, but I don't see FSU as a top 10 team by year's end. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I don't see it. Same with aTm and OSU, but I feel more comfortable saying they will fall then FSU.

There is not really a good way to judge SOS until the season is played out. Too much changes.

One benefit of OU going to the SEC, if they actually win the conference and make it to the BCS Title game, they won't have to worry about losing to an SEC team. It's much easier to beat Wisconsin at the Sugar Bowl, than LSU.

What is your actual argument? Are you trying to say that OU will go from dominating the Big XII to being middle of the pack in the SEC? Are you saying that OU will be less Alabama/Florida and more Arkansas/Georgia?

that just happened

No offense, but I'm certainly not going to worry about what a Mizzou fan thinks about football. A few decent years, and now Mizzou is on par with Tennessee/Georgia/Auburn.

Funny stuff.

when talking about this decade, yeah.

I would rather play florida this year. Rather play atm.

How can you say preseason rankings down matter when comparing schedules when thats all we have right now?

Doesn't tell the whole story, and is misleading. That is why I hate the SOS argument.

There is not really a good way to judge SOS until the season is played out. Too much changes.

So you create the ultimate spin-cycle on why the SOS is flawed, but then you later indicate that the SOS is a good evaluation method once the season is played out? Speaking of spinning, that's what my head is doing trying to grasp this reasoning.

By the way, those SOS numbers I gave you that debunked your opinion were released after the 2010 season.

WT I agree with you on OSU. FSU and A&M will be top 10 teams by the end of the year. Florida is in a transitional period. I would rather pay them than about half the schedule OU has. If they still had Urban Meyer I may think different. I think LSU's QBs make more mistakes than A&M's QB will make. I would rather play the SEC offenses right now than the Big 12s. Even teams like Baylor and Tech have better offenses than most SEC teams.

Would like to add that ABD's proposed acquisition of Memphis looks pretty sweet given their performance last night. They don't belong anywhere near a major conference.

The Big 12 this year will be much better than the SEC. But the Big 10 will be the best conference in the country IMO. Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and I bet Ohio State is a top 10 team by the end of the year. It'll be tough with the suspensions early on. But if they can survive that with 1 or 2 losses they'll be fine by the seasons end. Then you have Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Penn State that are good enough to compete with top teams in other big conferences.

I agree, the only reason to add Memphis would be to add TV sets in an SEC area. They bring a good basketball program but that's really about it.

I don't think anybody is saying that the big 12 is better than the SEC. We are saying that the Big12 has been anything but weak in the bo stoops era. For most of the decade the top teams in the conferences have been
SEC
Florida
LSU
Bama

Big 12
OU
Tex
Mizzou
PAC
USC
Oregon as of late but they have been terrible most of the decade

Big 10
tOSU
Michigan

ACC
FSU
Miami

Big East
WVU
Pitt

That is just crazy putting mizzou in the same breathe as florida LSU and alabama...

Even if you dont consider all the other good schools the SEC has...just looking at those top three, and if htey added ou and tx

you would have

florida, alabama, lsu, oklahoma, texas

We would be completely stupid to do that...we would rarely be able to go undefeated in the SEC and it would be tough to only go through the SEC with 2 losses

Florida hasn't been Florida since Tebow left. Last year they were average at best. This year they will have a new staff and a different program going. I bet they are middle of the road in the conference at best.

So....

If Texas sucks this year you still have to consider them one of the best...florida is one of the best...period...

A conference of florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, OU, A&M

Why in the world would we want to be in that conference...it would be so tough to make it ou to alive

Because 9 times out of 10, the team that wins that league is going to destroy any Big 10/Big 12/PAC 10/ACC team that they play in a BCS title game. That is how it is now and it would be even more so if the SEC added OU and UT. OU may go to less BCS title games, but they sure as hell will win it when they get there.

I agree that if you can get out alive you have a good shot at winning it all...

But its not a given...you still have the USC's that will be back...

I just dont think it makes sense for football reasons....That would be to tough of a conference, NOONE in the conference would be able to consistently go to a national title game...it would be a rare occurence

Is it better to go to 3 title games in 6 years and go 0-3? Or go to 1 title game in 6 years and go 1-0?

OU is not going to the SEC. 0% chance. So I don't get why we continue to argue this. There's a better chance that the Big 12 keeps going than OU joining the SEC.
