They are now looking at Cori Close of UCLA, Aaron Johnston of South Dakota State, and Kami Etheridge of Northern Colorado. Raoll is projecting that Close might be considering Tech because Texas has no income tax. Salary that low?

I don't know why Close might leave UCLA---maybe at a disadvantage with Stanford, Oregon, and Washington with recruiting? I don't remember many big names looking at UCLA.

Kami Etheridge had some nice wins, one over DePaul this year. We didn't. She is a UTexas girl. Coming home?

I have no clue as to why Johnston would leave. He turned down Minnesota. So, he'd rather have Tech? There aren't that many good athletes on the caprock any more.

Joe Foley of UALR turned them down.

I hope that Close gets the job. One of the biggest wasters of talent in womans basketball. She does not have a recruiting disadvantage with the other coaches in the Pac 12. she has top rated classes every year and never wins anything big.

If Cori Close left LA for Lubbock, she’s not nearly as smart as I gave her credit for.

I could see Kamie and Deb hopping on the bus for Lubbock as she’s probably gone as far as she can in Greeley. And you’re right she graduated from Lubbock Monterey high school so she and Deb would be going home.

Had heard Alesha Robertson-Ellis of Wayland Baptist was a top candidate. She was one of Marsha Sharps players. They must want bigger names.

Marlene Stollings of Minnesota is now the leader.

Any connection to Tech/Lubbock/Texas???

Edit: On further review looks like she’s from B1G country and I’m guessing she is trying to get more money from Minnesota. Looks like a good coach though.

I thought Swoopes would be a shoo in. Maybe the rumors of her being difficult are true.

Don't Texas schools always think they can attract a head coach?

JD Gravina, Western Illinois, has interviewed and would like the job. Probably the frontrunner.

Marlene Stollings is the new Texas Tech coach. Press conference tomorrow.

I do not see any connections to Texas or even this part of the country. May not bode well for her recruiting unless she gets some assistants that know the coaches in Texas, New Mexico, etc.

She's bringing at least one from Minnesota, one who they had thought of hiring at Minnesota.

They may not recruit Texas. They don't seem to get stars from Texas now.

Virginia--Tina Thompson
Minnesota--Lindsay Whelan
Washington State--Kami Etheridge of Northern Colorado
