Thank you Coach Lon

You have put some fun back in OU basketball.

I was thinking the same thing today after the game, these first 8 games this season have been the most fun i've had watching basketball, for a team I care about, in a long time... thank you coach :clap

I've honestly never been as enamored with a coach as I am Kruger.

Not just due to the night and day difference between this year's team and last that we've seen so far, but the guy is just the genuine article as a person too. I just can't stop being impressed by him.

I thought at first that Castiglione massively overpaid for him, but the more I see the more I realize this program is extremely lucky to have him. Hopefully more and more fans will begin to notice and support him and this team.

The entire identity of OU basketball changed when Kruger came in. We went from closed practices and little community involvement, to open practices and tons of community involvement. You can have all of the talent in the world, and if there is no effort or unity, you can't win. It has been refreshing to watch. Hopefully the fans start to show up.

If I had recorded the game, I would have made a DVD and sent it to Capel with a note that said, this is how your guys can play when they have some coaching.

Good one!!

My sentiments exactly.

He certainly wasn't my choice and I wasn't all that excited about the hire ... but he is doing a great job. These kids seem so much better coached right now. The difference is like night and day.

I still don't think we have enough talent to make a big smash but they're doing the best with what they have and to me that's always a big thumbs up.

Perhaps but next year we will have enough talent. OU is going to be a very legitimate 10 deep next season. 6 of those guys are going to be top 100 players (Pledger, Fitzgerald, Osby, Clark, Heild, and Hornbeak). One is reportedly the best guy on the team, M'Baye who has proven he can do it in D-1 basketball. One is an Oklahoma Player of the year that is proving he can contribute in Big XII basketball. Finally, OU has a Juco All American that is proving he can play at this level as well as backup pg with two years of D-1 starting experience. This doesn't even consider Henry or Arent which will add size to the roster.

I agree with everything you say, but just like Newell, in this day and age it is probably inevitable that we will lose a guy or two due to minutes or something. Not trying to rain on the parade because I also think we have a solid chance at being "good" next year as opposed to "competitive" this year. The following should be a nice, NCAA level back-court:

PG: Grooms, Blair
SG: Pledge, Heild and Hornbeak
SF: Cam, Neal

As far as the front court, I'm not going to get into speculating who is going to play where and how much, but Osby, Fitz, MBaye [supposedly], Henry and Arent give you size and skills that should translate into an NCAA level front court. I feel bad for Arent, his game is just like mine, can't hit the bunnies.
