to Duke. I think most of us were a bit surprised we didnt do better than we did. After listening to the announcers, I'm surprised we did as well as we did. I'm a bit surprised and disappointed with our seniors seemingly having that "deer in the headlights" look at the start and surprised at the comeback's progress. Typical of Sherri and her recruiting philosophy to have a very tightknit machine achieving more than the sum of the parts by the end of the season which is what I fully expect. What would happen if we played them at the end of February?

I am with you. I was impressed the way we came back in the 2nd half. Whatever Sherri said in the locker room she needs to say it more. Our record may not be pretty but if you tho pink about who the losses are to than in my eyes we will be ok. Don't give up hope!

Overall, I think that is about as well as we could have hoped to play from an offensive standpoint. We got really good production from Griffin, Aaryn, Sharane, and Morgan. Kaylon is the only starter who didn't score although she did pull down 6 rebounds. Defensively, we aren't going to beat many teams when we give up 94 points. We were close to Duke in rebounding so that was another positive.

We have some easy teams coming up so hopefully Wyatt will get more minutes. Aaryn has been playing a lot and this will be a good time to sit her several minutes per game. We really need for Sharane and Kornet to start hitting some outside shots and hopefully that will happen against weaker teams.

I don't know that anyone has much to contribute at this time. This is the typical pre-season. We get exposed in November and December, and we get it fixed by April. I think the only surprise was UCLA. We did pretty well against Duke after a miserable start. If anything, the fact that we got back to within seven after falling so far behind kind of exposed some problems that Duke has. We knew our problems.

Once the crops are planted, there isn't a lot of reason to get too excited while they are growing. It usually doesn't make them grow any faster, and it wastes a lot of time in worry. Sherri gets paid to do that, and she is pretty effective at it.

Probably the same outcome because they improve as well.

I'd rather win postseason than "pre-season" or even conference season.

Yeah, we lost, but it's not like there's a basketball BCS or something.

Interesting thought... what if there WAS a basketball BCS??

Tennessee: The rest of the conference needs to stop chanting S-E-C at our success. WE won those titles under Summitt, not THEM

UConn: Dag nabbit, our weak AAC schedule is going to keep us out of the national title game. It's not like we paint our court blue or anything

OU: Yay! Our loyal fanbase is getting us into a major basketball bowl game! It's not the national championship, but still...

Baylor: What do you MEAN we're playing Marist in the Fiesta Ball?!

Lost in all the chatter is the fact that we have played two elite teams close with a chance to win in one and a good chance to win if we had arrived at the gym before the second half.

We haven't played top teams this well since 2002.

If I were the Duke coach, I would be asking my players how a senior-laden team allowed a team that only has four established players in the top seven or eight at this time came back to within seven points with less than a minute left. If I had 94% of my scoring returning and a host of HS All-Americans, I would be rather concerned that a team that is still filling some holes almost beat me. If Sherri is worried, I think the Duke coach is probably just as concerned. Her team was supposed to be ready out of the gate.

That is a far stretch from what actually transpired. The Dookies were never in danger of losing to OU. OU was scrambling the whole game to get to single digits. Had the Guys played their A+ game for forty minutes they might have had a chance at a win. But how often have we seen them bring even their A game for more than twenty minutes? Not often.

The Sooners again exposed their potential but they also have a long ways to go to get there. For certain a perimeter team shooting .296 is going to continue to have difficulties securing wins against very good teams.

Hopefully Morgan will continue her perimeter scoring and Derica can get more minutes and points BTA. Just an opinion but unfortunately I think Sharane's present perimeter shooting is more typical of what we can expect forthcoming. She shot over 40% BTA during the conference season last year but I consider that an anomaly based on her shooting stroke. I see her as a 30-32% shooter BTA, at best.

Also felt Williams and Griffin on the floor together was effective and will be seen more often in the future.

I am surprised that we haven't seen this earlier, but suspect that Sherri wanted to slow play Kay Kay just in case there were lingering injury issues
