Lol...something is probably flying way over my head here...but I'm serious. Besides the fact that Vandy gets bounced in the 1st round every year, Stallings gets good players to go to Vandy and he can coach them too. I'd be pumped if he came to OU, and I actually think it's more realistic than Buzz if we target him, as Vandy to OU is probably a step upwards, whereas Marquette to OU just screams lateral move. Yes I do realize Buzz attended OCU which may make a difference, but still...

The positives that have come to mind for me in the past few days

- From this region, might want to get out of the Northern Winters in Wisconsin.

- To go along with from this region he loves to recruit this region. Ask any guard in Texas their list and they mention Marquette. Same with two of the top Oklahoma kids in Clark and Parker.

- Now this could go either way but its easier to win in the Big 12 along with a better location in the conference. I really question that if Marquette can ever be a consistent top 4 in the conference with the super conference model. The conference is heavily east coast based and Marquette's is stuck in the midwest.

Where in the Big 12 I think Buzz would be able to build OU back into a top 4 program, top 20 type program quickly.

I am also going to assume his wife is from Texas/Oklahoma since that is where he is from so there could be that pull as well.

For many other coaches Marquette to Oklahoma would be a lateral move but I think for Buzz it could be exactly what he needs.
 
I recall five years ago THE DO did this same thing after Sampsonleft.I still laugh at the fact that Capel wasn't among the 64 candidates then.I wouldn't be shocked if this were true again.

We saw what that got us.

I haven't looked at the bracket but if our next coach isn't listed among 64 hopefuls of possible names, then we are in trouble. Maybe we could become NAIA in basketball if this happens.

I agree.

Stallings has been known as a great coach and has been successful at Vandy. They make the tourney almost every year and they play exciting basketball. If we ended up with Stallings, I would say we improved quite a bit from Capel to him. That's a big upgrade.
