Gioya
Peyton
Gabbi
Maddie
Two of these will play two years after this one. Three have the option to play three more years (assuming medical hardship approval). They will be here for a while.
They bring attributes that we haven't had for some time. All have about a fifteen-foot shot on which they are deadly. They must be hitting about seventy percent of the shots taken near the free throw line or just beyond.
All can hit the three. Peyton has struggled more than I thought she would. But, the others have shot the three pretty well this year.
Maddie and Gioya can drive the lane almost at will. Gabbi and Peyton tend to be deadly on fastbreak layups, but they don't seem to be effective driving the lane in the halfcourt.
All are good passers, and all can rebound.
All are good defenders that can produce steals.
When one thing isn't working, they seem to be able to go to another part of their game.
They all hit free throws.
Is this the core of the team for the next three years, the foundation of the next series of Final Four teams? All they need is a post to rebound and play interior defense---although an occasional layup would be nice.
It strikes me that others who are here or who will be here will fit into this core if they want to play. This appears to be the future---not one star, but four---or more.
