When Capel passed on him, he may as well have been the coach that cut Michael Jordan (according to some). The Tech fans seem to be very pleased with him. Again, from the TTU scout board:

Is easily the biggest joke on this basketball team.

He can't shoot. He makes horrible turnovers. He makes awful passes. He takes no time to set up a play in the paint and just takes the stupid three.

He has no business being on the court for the Red Raiders.

If Pat had any common sense in his brain, he would bench him and never let him touch the hardwood again.

I realize I'm being very critical, but this is a Senior who is supposed to be leading his team.

Roberson is happy, his team sucks, they lost again but he got his 21 points. He got 19 last game-thats all he is playing for-his stats, his touches.

He is the most selfish player i have seen on a college team in 30 years watching college ball.

Pat definitely deserves to be fired for continuing to allow this to go on-for playing Roberson 30+ mpg and letting him do whatever he wants to the detriment of the team.

It is exactly like a grade school or jr high team where one kid-who sucks-is the coaches son or a powerful community leaders kid-and he is allowed to launch brick after selfish brick while the other 4 kids stand on the court looking bored-and the team loses every game-but the spoiled brat never gets benched or admonished.

Sometimes he can shoot. Usually when the game is already decided.

I think Roberson just makes a bigger spectacle out of his mistakes than Singletary does. Either way, both of them need to be riding pine the rest of the season.

The issues might be a bit different with a competent coach. He certainly doesn't have one now.

Fans are just pissed they suck. Roberson is an all-conference type guard, don't listen to them John, go get yours.

You're a bad coach when players get worse in your program.

Roberson is one heck of a point guard, he just doesn't have any help. Even Mike Singletary is not the player he used to be. Surround a good point guard with players that suck and Tech is the kind of team you get. Shows you how little TTU fans know about basketball!

During the broadcast, they mentioned that Roberson had been benched a couple of games for insubordination issues or something like that. Either way, much of what their fans are saying is strikingly similar to what fans on here were saying about Willie Warren his sophomore year. Frankly, Tech's situation is strikingly similar to what we had last season, a team picked to do reasonabely well and thought they could just "show up" and win.

If only we had him, we too could be in last place.

Obviously he's not a great leader since his team full of seniors has fallen apart. As for being a good PG, I dont know if you noticed but even though he's 5'9 he basically didn't play PG for most of last night. They just ran him off screens since he's more concerned with getting off shots than getting Singletary and company involved.

I thought Capel made a nice move by playing Newell along with Blair so that Blair could guard their PG and Newell could chase Roberson around. It was at least worth a try to find some use for Newell since bringing the ball up obviously isn't his thing.

Roberson may have scored a lot of points, but I didnt see a good PG on the floor last night. Blair and Newell turned it over, Roberson wasn't playing PG and when he did he just chucked up shots, and their two backup PG's were both dreaful.

But all four of those other PG's have an excuse for being mediocre. They are young. Roberson is a Senior now and his best accomplishment in 4 years was getting that team to the NIT last year.

You are right on the money with this. I never looked at it that way but Tech is where we were last year.
