Folks, OU is shooting 49.9% from the floor this year!!!!

I love Lon, but his 1v1, miss-match offense didn't always produce great offensive flow.

I appreciate the sets Moser has run, they had a couple of sets out of timeouts Saturday and a couple of inbounds plays for layups as well. To be fair, Lon was awesome with inbound plays as well, but Moser has really done a good job getting these guys on the same page offensively.

Just really impressed Moser has this team shooting 50% from the field. This team is so much fun to watch.

Yeah, teams can't take away one guy to beat us. Defensive rebounding is also strong versus bigger teams. Very fun team to watch and really enjoy the Moser energy.

I agree about our sets and inbound plays but I have to say, I remember many times after time outs under Lon saying "THAT'S the play we drew up???".

Fair.....but wonder if that was because of the "freedom" LK allowed. Not saying it is wrong, but without having the "best" athletes it's hard to make it work.

I may be wrong but Lon offense's were suited for the NBA type talent

If Moser gets guys to buy into playing patient, we will always shoot a high percentage because we will pass up lower percentage shots in the shot clock. Fewer possessions so we will score less and won't be as exciting ... but it also limits the number of transition points and possessions the other team has so typically keeps games closer.

I’ve seen a few posts about what our ceiling will be if we shoot the three like we did Saturday. Well, we would win the national title and shatter all sorts of records. No team will come close to that. The bigger question is can we even be an above average three-point shooting team. I’d guess not because Mo is our only guard who is a good perimeter shooter. Goldwire and Harkless are both well below average. It helps that Tanner is a good shooter for a big, and takes a fair amount of threes.

The keys will be taking better care of the ball, and whether we can get good shots against athletic, sound defenses, especially late in games when teams lock in defensively. I still worry that we will be hurt by the absence of a guard who can create off the dribble and finish.

I now realize that this post seems very negative, and that’s actually not how I feel about this team. I love the defense and energy and am incredibly excited about the future. There were so many names thrown out when Lon retired, and I’m very confident that we hired the right coach.

Texas Tech and Baylor games might be in 30s or 40s. HAHA

lol ....no #hit. I was going to say the same thing....especially how the announcers would always say how Kruger was such a great out of TO coach...well, ya I guess if ya only call 1 or 2 a game:ez-roll:

Hill is a good shooter and so is CJ. Harkless is the key to me. If he can shoot in the mid 30s from three, OU will be a tough out in the tournament - given the other things we know about this team and Moser

Jalen is a capable shooter but he doesn’t shoot many threes, so I don’t think he will affect our numbers from three very much. If Harkless can shoot mid 30s, it would be a massive improvement. I think he is right around 30 percent in his OU career, and I just don’t think his shot is good enough to improve that much, especially against the defenses he will see in the conference. That’s why I think Tanner is the guy who could pick up the slack for the guards.

Not sure Tanner can stay on the floor enough with his defense at this point. Harkless is too valuable to take off the floor on D. Tanner has to play the 4 to be on the floor much, as if you play him at the 3 then Gibson or Harkless has to sit - and they are both too valuable to do that for long stretches. And that takes Hill off the floor and his all-around game is significantly better than Tanner at this point.

Maybe I’m missing something, but Tanner exclusively plays the 5 for us. I don’t envision our rotation or starting lineup changing at all. Are you thinking about Jacob? Neither Groves bro excels on defense, but Tanner is absolutely going to stay on the floor as our leading scorer and a mismatch for almost opposing bigs. Plus, it’s not like Chag is a lockdown defender, and he is the only other 5 who has played the past several games. If you meant to say Jacob, I absolutely agree that he will have to improve on defense in order to get more minutes.
