It is just the way it goes. I wore black socks because of them and my dad hated it. But, I'm sure there were things about him and his friends that his parents hated. There is a classic story in Mitch Albom's book about them; Ed Hightower hated the whole "Fab Five" thing so much he banned Jalen Rose from smiling during a game.

I think we could trace older generations disapproving of younger ones back to the beginning of this country. I was doing some research for something one time and found a hilarious magazine article in which the pitcher Kid Nichols complained that pitchers "these days" were sissies. "These days" was in 1947. The story is on page 41 here. It is a tour de force of "Get off my lawn" cliches that we hear to this day about modern day ballplayers.

I've vowed not to do that sort of thing myself, but then I see the popularity of Justin Bieber, and...

Some of them got Michigan put on a probation that they have yet to recover from. Hopefully, the documentary will show the bad as well as the good. As far as I'm concerned, the bad far outweighed the good.

that's separate from what they did on the court, which is what sounded like knight was referring to. the preview tony posted said the documentary goes into the bad. so i acknowledge they weren't angels. but you can't control everything off the court. even john wooden had problems with a booster. does knight want to vilify any of those ucla teams?

I don't know if any team has ever won 5 games in a row. I'm not a UConn fan, but I'm pulling for them. It's an amazing effort on their part.

Syracuse went on a run like that a few years ago all the way from the bubble to the 5-seed. They were promptly smoked by eATMe in the first round.

The year the OU women won the Big XII tournament by winning 4 games in 5 days, the NCAA rewarded them by giving them a game on the first day of the tournament, on the west coast and their game time was 9:00 Pacific time. Needless to say, they played like they were wearing cement sneakers.

I think they played their way into a 3 seed, so I won't be picking them to be upset in the 1st round...but I doubt they'll go too far.

since the big east went to 80 teams, i'd like to see the relation of their final four teams compared to their big east tourney runs. too lazy to do that deep of research.
