Boomer Sooner!

Good luck to KSU, ISU, MU, and KU.

Anyone know about the confernece?
Arizona - down right now but Miller will turn things around
UCLA - I'm sure Howland will turn things around
Washington - Romar is a hell of a recruiter they'll always be really talented.
Cal - Mike Montgomery is a great coach. I don't know much about their team.

Then we have the teams from the Big 12. Texas is really good, A&M is really good, Oklahoma State is decent.

Herb Sendek has ASU climbing too. Oregon is opening a new arena.

It will be interesting to see what they call the conference. It makes sense to call the divisions the Southwest and Pacific.

So do you think there will be 22 conference BB games, home and home with CU, ASU and AU?

I agree with the division names, but what about a simple Big 16 for the conference name. Or something to do with the West since this conference has a stranglehold on the markets west of the Mississippi river.

There are currently 18 games a year in the Big East (they have 16 teams in basketball), not entirely sure how they divide it up but I suspect the new conference will use a similar system.

Probably patterned after the Big East who has 16 hoops teams.

The name that's going around the web that I really like for the new conference is...

The Big Pac

It would help us out basketball wise. Texas would own the conference. Football wise OU would dominate because they would probably be the second or third best recruiting school in California and the second best recruiting school in Texas. After UT and USC gets theres, than OU gets the rest.

what you have not considered... The return of JessieW!

Wait, Texas would own the conference in basketball??

The most exciting thing about it would be that Texas WOULDN'T own it. Thank God.

You seriously think Texas is a better basketball program than UCLA???

Here's what I'm thinking for a format. It's a bit crazy, but so's the idea of OU in the Pac-10, so here goes:

A pre-conference season festival. Four games over four days at a central site against teams in the opposite division.

Home and home against your division.

Conference tourney OR a second festival against the other four teams in the opposite division.

Cuts way down on travel and gets one game against everyone. Means home fans will not see half the conference EVER.

Thoughts?
