Thomas

He's good when he becomes the aggressor. His take charge attitude on the boards was as important as the threes at taking the heart out of OSU.

Oktex, you just make yourself look stupid with posts like this. Thomas was solid all night. Played good defense, took some key charges, altered some shots, and scored 12 key pts for us. WTF do you expect from him!!!!????

Agreed, if he can play more consistently with a mean streak, he really makes this team significantly better.

I think he needs to play with a chip on his shoulder..he played much better in the second half.

We wouldn't be where we're at if we didn't have Thomas.:dance005:

He wasn't good in the first half and against TT he had opportunities to the basket and didn't take them. No I'm not stupid I know when a guy has talent and doesn't always show it. He has what it takes but at times he seems timid. He played a great second half but the first half he wasn't in the game.

I think those critical of Thomas are critical because he has a lot of size and skill and is clearly underachieving. He had ability. He just needs to get tougher and get some mud in his blood.

Ok, I criticized Thomas in the first half and he came out and played lights out in the second half. I know some of you say I was wrong but this guys has talent he needs to show it every game not just once in a while. I will say he played one hell of a second half tonight and so did everyone else.

Thomas was the leading rebounder on either team in the 1st half with 6 even though they out rebounded us 19-14 in the first half. He was also 2-5 with 4 points. He had a decent 1st half too.

Buddy and Isaiah had 5 points total in the 1st half.

Thomas ended the game with 12 points and 8 boards. Spangler had 13and 9. We had a huge advantage in the post tonight in both halves IMHO.

You'll get no argument out of me on that point, oketex. In truth, though, Buddy and Cousins didn't show up in the first half either. But, on the whole all three players have been pretty darned good this season.

I'm glad they turned it on in the second half and pulled out a great win.

We are incredibly inconsistent with feeding the post, so he rarely gets into a good flow on offense, yet still average double-figures -- I'll take it.

And I think he's very solid defensively. He takes charges as well as anyone on the team.

Yeah he took 3 in the 2nd half that were very important in getting the ball back and the lead.

This is key. Got to involve the bigs to avoid becoming one dimensional. To me Thomas, Spangler, and Lattin's play are the key to OU being able to make any type of run in the tourney.

We don't get him the ball in the post because Thomas doesn't like to bang down low and spends more time on the perimeter. When he does post up, it's weak, and the defender usually wins the battle. He isn't willing to work at it every possession. If he played as hard as Spangler, he would dominate every single game. Bottom line

I have him seen him bang with ball on the block and go up strong quite a bit. I agree though that he doesn't do it enough.

Thomas has lots of talent. He has a whole'nother gear that he is trying to get to, and I'm hoping that we see it before march.

Most transfers have a year to adjust to a new system. He is using the season as that adjustment.

Lon even stated yesterday in media that he is going to break out soon.

Would someone please explain to me why OU went so hard after Thomas. This guys has taken up a scholarship and has not produced at all. Maybe I'm missing something but he doesn't help this team at all.

If we keep playing the way we are right now there will not be another NCAA trip this season.:(

If you think he doesn't help the team at all, you're missing quite a lot. I guess if you were Lon, you'd have Bennett starting.

Reality check: Thomas is not and never was an NBA prospect. He is and has been a good college players. A very good college player. But he's a tweener. If Romero Osby isn't an NBA prospect, then TaShawn Thomas isn't one by far. However, he compliments the rest of OU's team very well. He has struggled to find his place in an established starting 5, but still averages double figures in points and at times has been a real force. I wish the offense ran through him and Spangler more at times, but Thomas is a key player on this team and needs to be on the floor. I think he has been a great addition to this team.

It never amazes me how little some of our fans know about sports. Thomas is having a very good season, had a solid first half and a very good game just two rebounds short of a double double in a low scoring game.

First, oketex was a college basketball official for a number of years, so he's definitely not a fan who doesn't know much about the game.

In his defense, he started that thread in the first half when Thomas was not playing well. I doubt if he would have made that post if he had waited until the second half.

So...you're saying that he's a former official who doesn't know much about the game? LOL That's actually very common. :ez-roll:

Not quite accurate. Thomas is considered an NBA prospect and some of the mock drafts still have him going in the 2nd round. I agree with you on the Osby thing...I was surprised he didn't stick somewhere. However, Thomas has much better offensive skills than osby did and he is a better shot blocker too. Now Osby is by far the better rebounder, defender and dunker!! Never saw Osby miss one of those. We'll see what happens. It's all gonna depend on what team he is trying to make.

I think there is a possibility that Thomas could make an NBA roster. He's 6'8" and thick. Osby wasn't as big as Thomas. I know the Rockets had a couple of post players smaller than Thomas at one time. Chuck Hayes is only 6'6" but was a bull defensively. He still plays. Another player was Kenny Thomas who was only 6'7" and played about 10 years. Glen "Big Baby" Davis is about the same size as Thomas, too, but maybe a little heavier.

It might not be likely but it's possible.
