I am suprised there isn't more chatter about this happening.

I get the whole "let the students have fun/ YOLO stuff but if I were an OSU fan, I would be embarrassed that this occurred on Saturday. I don't buy the excuse that it was because the GIA was rowdy again or that OSU was in first place in the league. They rushed because they beat OU...

They were favored to win the game by 8 and we weren't even ranked.

Thoughts?

It was a big emotional win for them in OT. I think it was a bit inappropriate, but it was the first bedlam in GIA that has meant much in a while. I won't be too critical.

Their world revolves around us much more than vice versa, so I wasn't surprised. I only cared inasmuch as our students came in for some grief for rushing the court after a much bigger win. And we've been much further down in recent years than the aggies have been.

Funny, though, to compare it to our Bedlam win. That was arguably our first big win of the season and those wins have been few and far between in recent years, but our students took a win over the aggies in stride.

oswho, on the other hand, has been better off in recent years than we have and they're currently top 20, but they flooded the floor as if they'd won the national title. I wonder if the members of the class of 2013 will each receive medals commemorating the win.

It has been so long since the students have had something to cheer about in basketball. That was the first experience for some of them in a sold out "rowdy" GIA. I really do think that was the main reason.

But you could be right. Maybe we just hate OU :facepalm

I don't mean this in a snarky way at all, but absolutely not on the bolded part. This is the 4th straight time OSU has beat OU in Stillwater, and even though this was a much more exciting game than the last three Bedlam matches in Stillwater have been, beating OU was not the reason the fans rushed the court.

If you watch it again (not that I would expect you to), only one part of the student section starts to rush the court, the side where the football players and women's basketball team sits. They start running out onto the floor, and then it became monkey see - monkey do.

It was like a much lesser version of when OSU rushed the court against UT in the 3 OT game with Durant, the fans are RIGHT on top of the action, and excitement gets the better of them after their team wins a fun overtime battle, not because OSU beat UT or OU in basketball.

You think they would have rushed the court if it was ISU? You can't honestly think they would have rushed the court for any team they beat in a close game they were favored 8 points in? I think we know for a fact that is not the case.

of course, it didn't hurt that it was OU.

That Baylor game was pretty thrilling if you ask me...

Who cares. If they want to rush the court, then rush the court. It has zero impact on anyone. Perhaps if people were not so picky about fan behavior college basketball might become fun again.

I don't think it was "sold out". Was more like "give out" as how many tickets were given out free? Just like when osu supposedly "sold out" the OU-osu women's game in Stoolwater during the Andrea "Sluggo" Riley years and holders of tickets from the men's game a couple of hours earlier, were given free admission to the women's game. Inferiority complex is an ugly disease.

The "Rushing the court" worthy win has really diluted itself over the years. It's that way everywhere, not just OSU.

It's no big deal either way to me, it's just students having fun.

Yes. Another question we should be asking is, "Do the players enjoy celebrating with the students?" Because isn't that what college basketball is supposed to be about, the players and the students?

My husband and I were watching the game, and when it came to the end, I said "Surely they aren't going to rush the court because they beat an unranked OU team!!" My husband said" It's bedlam" I said "We didn't rush the court when we beat them several weeks ago." Nuf said !!! Good grief cowboys...act like you've been there before!!!

Bill Self rolled his eyes when OU fans rushed the court after handing the Beakers their 3rd stright loss and this whole entire board proclaimed him to be a douchebag for raining on OU's parade. Now OSU rushes the court after a Bedlam win that they seemed destined to lose and they're somehow different than us and we're holier than thou?

Because OSU winning in Stillwater for the 4th straight time against an unranked team is the exact same scenario as an unranked OU beating the #3 team in the nation who they hadn't defeated anytime, anywhere, since 2005? Mmmkay. :facepalm

I didn't particularly care for it myself (probably because the times when a win like that happened a whole lot more consistently are still quite clear in my memory), but that's an apples/oranges arguement if I've ever seen one.

To me it was the exact same thing as when OU beat OSU this year in football. OU fans stormed the field and OSU wasnt ranked...it was just an overtime win against your rival. Nothing wrong with it from either school.
