Interesting post by SoonerTraveler on the men's board about which player has improved the most. Traveler said that he believes every Sooner on the team has improved.

If we just look at which players from last year have improved, I would say Griffin has but she appears to be the only one.

If you said from the first of the season til now, I would say Gioya, Edwards, and Kornet, in that order.

Thoughts?

Edwards and Carter

I can't disagree. I think it is clear that Gioya has stepped forward.

Edwards looked really good in her first performance. Then, she reverted to being a freshman. Right now, she makes about one really dumb mistake a game, which is fewer than most freshman points, and does much better at almost everything, including getting to the rim, free throw shooting (despite missing that one), and defense. She looks like she will be valuable for four years.

Kornet has played well in spurts. If she has her confidence, she means so much to this team because she can shoot over the zone, go inside for tips, and rebound. We need for her to grow faster.

I think Kellogg has done well, but she isn't being given much of a chance.

Gibbs---I'm beginning to see the lights come on when she hits the floor.

Of the somewhat unknowns, I'm probably rooting for her to improve more than anyone else because we need her so bad. We haven't seen much of her so we really don't know what her potential is but it isn't uncommon for players to be much better as sophomores than as freshmen. If she comes out this fall and plays at a high level, it will make a world of difference.

I've always heard coaches say that players improve in the off season, not during the season. I think I remember that Kaylon wasn't cleared to practice until September. I'm hoping that she benefits from a full off season of work and we see a much improved player next year.

Edwards only needed time, she is avg 1.3ppg that's not much of an improvement. I would have to go with Griffin as the most improved this season with Kay Kay next, thought the player who has really improved thru her whole career would be Morgan Hook, she is a point guard and I would guess Sherri works with her and Edwards the most. Coming out of high school Aaryn was a point guard but she's leaving OU as a combo guard who turns the ball over to much(tho better this year) her game is still the same.

Carter, really making her mark and is going to get better. Edwards is showing signs, but still has Freshman moments. Kornet about where she was at the end of last season, I really like her a lot and hope the next two years she becomes a stud. Kellogg has major ups and will become a nice contributor, Kaylon just needs to get her confidence back and play smart.

It is interesting that we just won a rather key game with three players playing almost the entire game: Morgan 38, Carter 37, Kornet 37. Are those who you would have expected to play that many minutes tonight?

We had these:
Griffin 21
Sharane 18
Kay Kay 16
Portia 14
Shaya 11
Edwards 5
Wyatt 3

We got support from some unexpected places. Hope it continues.

Portia played like a veteran against Texas.

Edwards made two turnovers (bounce pass in the lane and the handoff that went to the Texas player) that were crucial mistakes that could have cost us the game.

Sharane needs to keep herself on the floor instead of trying to take a charge. She is too valuable to be on the bench.

Carter has shown the greatest improvement.

How did we not have anybody back on Texas's last play? Hook was beaten badly, but she wasn't the one who should have been back as she was the free throw shooter. We were fortunate there was just 4 seconds to get the play off. What were the coaches doing?

I hate to keep beating this drum, but IMO Carter was capable of doing great things in her first game as a Sooner. She didn't, of course, but it's very rare when a freshman plays great very early in her career. Now, she's no longer a freshman, in terms of her development.

As for others, Griffin has obviously improved each year she's been here. Those hands of stone she displayed earlier in her career have softened considerably. I do she would quit missing so many of those chippies, however.

And then there's Portia. I must admit I never thought that girl would contribute after watching her last year and earlier this season. But I'm proud to say Miss Portia proved me wrong. I'm very happy for her and I finally see why Sherri refused to give up on her.
