During OUHoops.com history regarding something you said on the board. So since 2009.

I've got a bunch lol.

One big one that comes to mind was insisting that Andrew Fitzgerald was a better rebounder than Thomas Robinson in high school and would be in college :facepalm

I was probably the most wrong about the Sooners prospects when they had Willie Warren, TMG and the big fellow that got us in trouble.

I was most wrong when after Krueger told us no I said we should get Billy Clyde.

I wanted OU to hire Josh Pastner instead of Kruger.

I also was excited when OU signed Tommy Mason-Griffin. I had refereed some of his HS games and thought he was a steal. He validated to me that a bad attitude trumps ability. I like that Kruger places an emphasis on character.

I still don't think Tiny Gallon was a bad kid. He was just easily influenced by some bad apples.

Since I have too many to list, I'll just go with the most recent one. I thought it was a HORRIBLE idea to switch Woodard and Cousins' positions. So far, it's looking like a pretty good move.

I wanted Stevie Clark over Woodard

I rarely post opinions. Generally, because they're always wrong.

Not sure if I ever posted this, but I might have told people Nick Thompson was going to be the next Keith Van Horn.

:facepalm

It was the Capel era that transformed me from a homer to glass-half-empty-pessimist.

I have been wrong so many times over the years, I couldn't possibly list all of them.

But, the one that stands out in my mind because it had the greatest impact on our basketball program, has already been mentioned by Bounce13 and OUHoops: Staying the course on Jeff Capel and believing he would take us to the promised land in college basketball.

I learned the hard way that there is more to coaching than being a good recruiter. I already knew that, of course, I just couldn't make myself believe it at the time.

I thought TMG might end up being the best 4 year PG in OU history. Oops.

Count me among the losers in the Cousin to PG bet. Agree it's early, but Cousins was really good last night. My one concern is late in close games he is a liability at the foul line right now. Of course at that point in the game, Woodard, Buddy or even Walker could be a primary ball handler.

You win !

I thought Billy Clyde was the right hire at the time, moreso because I was just so desperate to rid the stench of the Capel era and go back to winning and thought he gave us the best chance to turn it around in year 1.

I was a big buyer in Tiny Gallon, I mean he was an ok player but nobody on that roster deserves mention as anything more then a poo stain on toilet paper we flush away.

Interesting topic.....

  • I was too high on Longar Longar.
  • I thought Austin Johnson was going to develop into a super-star (with his athletic ability, size, length, etc)...
  • I have been wrong about Texas Tech about 27 times.
  • I've polished more turds (players and teams) than the rest of the board combined.
  • I really wanted OU to hire Jeff Bzdelik over Capel and Johnny Jones over Kruger

I remember back in 1979 I was wrong about something. Still living that down. It's been all good since then.:ez-laugh:

I preferred trying to hire Buzz Williams over Kruger and was very lukewarm to his hiring. I knew he'd clean up the program, a necessary step, but never guessed he'd build what he's built. He's been unbelievable for the program. He has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds.

I thought freshman year Cousins was a head case and could not be relied on. Glad I missed on that one by a mile.

It's funny but my dad has been slow to come around on Kruger. He doesn't trash him or anything, but he's not that high on him. It's in part, I think, that he feels Joe C. gave up on Capel too soon (though why he feels that way, I cannot fathom). It could also be just cranky-old-man syndrome (he'll be 87 soon and while he isn't generally the cranky sort -- quite the opposite -- he does occasionally indulge in some grousing).

I haven't spoken to him about last night's game yet; I hope that great team performance managed to sway him a bit more in Coach Kruger's favor.
