Always thought he would end up being a really solid player for us. Anybody know what really happened to him at OU. I know he got concussed and was having some residual symptoms. I think somebody mentioned that he was failing out or something on here.

I would like to know the real story if anybody knows...(PMs are good if you can't/don't feel comfortable posting here).

Wish him well during the rest of his career.

I always wondered what really happened there as well. Certainly it wasn't just a concussion.

I agree, the reason for him leaving was never fully disclosed. I always thought whatever it was, it was something more personal than just the concussion. Maybe it was the reason behind the concussion.

Who does he play for?

Edit: Nevermind, I see he is on the NT roster. I thought he ended up out in Cali for some reason.

DENTON, Texas – T.J. Taylor has been waiting on this day for a long time. Three years after leaving Denison High School as their all-time leading scorer, and four colleges later, Taylor’s unlikely path has him set to finally suit up for his hometown Mean Green on Friday night against Oklahoma City at 7 p.m.

In 112 career high school games over four seasons, Taylor averaged 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game for the Yellow Jackets. Those accolades earned him three Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State selections, and made him a national top 100 recruit. As you could imagine, college coaches across the country swooned over the 6-3 guard.

According to Rivals.com, Taylor had scholarship offers from Arizona State, Iowa State, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Marquette. Those last two schools, Oklahoma and Marquette, would actually sign Taylor and get him on campus.

At OU, a preseason concussion held him out of competition for the entire 2010-11 season, and the following spring he decided to take his talents to Paris Junior College. In the year at Paris, Taylor earned third-team NJCAA All-America honors and reignited the recruiting frenzy that he experienced in high school.

Buzz Williams, head coach at Marquette, and his top assistant, Tony Benford, were in on Taylor since his Denison days. The pair sold Taylor on playing for the Golden Eagles, but he wouldn’t spend much time in Milwaukee.

Benford had been named the head coach at North Texas, which is just an hour drive from Denison, and the prospects of coming home was a little too much for Taylor. He followed Benford to Denton, ending a three-year saga that finds Taylor just 60 miles from home.

Just a theory but I think he spent some time with Capel and quickly realized how incompetent the man was

Capel was a players coach, and too much so. My theory is he hasn't been as good as everyone thought, for whatever reason. There is a reason he's been to four different schools. I think he got to OU and Marquette and wasn't living up to expectations and found himself low on the depth chart. His JUCO accolades seem to be below what everyone thought of him coming out of high school. I think he has struggled with not being the caliber of player he was in high school.

I think he has a lot of talent and wish he had stayed in Noraman. Kruger could have been good for him like he has been for Cam. But i hope he has found a good situation at NT and wish him the best.

TJ did play in NTS first exhibition game against Oklahoma City. He played 16 minutes, scored 10 points on 3-8 shooting, was 1-3 BTA, had 2 RBs, 1 assist, 0 turnovers and 2 steals. He did not play in the 2nd exhibition or their first regular season game. No explanation on why he did not play in the last two games.

Went to college with a guy who was on our college basketball team who knew TJ. I asked him about it when TJ transferred but for the life of me, I can't remember what he said. I think it was the typical "Coach is against me" type deal you usually get from players who aren't happy where they are. But I think it was off the court issues that were the real reason. I played against TJ the next year when he transferred to Paris JC. He honestly didn't do that much against us, which is surprising because we were so bad. I think he had around 10 points or something. Played pickup with him when he was still in high school while I was visiting my said friend in Texas. Was pretty good then though lol

Has TJ played yet? Haven't heard his name
