TMG is sitting two rows in front of me

Why is Tiny getting lumped into this?

Because you don't give up three more year of free college and a degree to jump to the NBDL. Someone fed these kids some bad information and they bought it hook line and sinker and it's their fault.

It really is a shame that TMG has/had this attitude because there is no denying he has talent. It's just a shame he thought or was told that his talent was NBA level last year. There is no doubt in my mind that if his mindset was different, he would be tearing it up on the offensive end for us this year. I don't like the selfishness he brought to the team last year, but I have nothing against the kid and like many of you hope he straightens things out and does well in life.

Like campbest, I'm wonder why Tiny is being brought up here. Early to midway through the season his attitude was definitely subpar. No excuse for that. But towards the latter portion of the season I felt Tiny had undergone an attitude change. He played more passionately, worked more out of the post as Capel instructed and was vocally cheering on his team rather than tearing it down. I'm not dismissing the investigation by any means, but if not for that, Tiny would have returned and we would be a lot better of a team today with him. I would bet the main reason Tiny declared for the draft was the impending investigation and that he and the coaching staff knew that they had a better chance out of it if he was not returning to the team. Whatever took place between him/his mom and the people involved with getting them the "loan" is definitely wrong, but I hold less against Tiny than TMG because he showed signs of redemption later in his time at OU.

In the end, none of it matters. What happened, happened and it can't be changed. All we can do now is root for the guys who are here now and hope that we get the best out of each ofthem, whatever that may be.

His situation is quite different than TMG's, not an apples to apples comparison.

He was also drafted and one of the last cut by the Bucks.

That is very sad but TMG made his bed and he has to sleep in it.

think the time for that has passed. I know a lot of people are bitter about last year but all those kids decided to come to OU and represent our program. I can understand the harsh feelings after what our season became and the mass exodus but to not feel for a 19 year old kid who obviously made a bad decision is a bit heartless for me.

That's a fair viewpoint, and I don't disagree entirely.

But that 19-year-old didn't just hurt himself -- for that, I can feel sympathy -- he hurt Coach Capel, his teammates and the entire OU hoops program, not to mention the many thousands of fans who follow and support the Sooners. And not just by deciding to depart after a year, but by his actions while with the program.

Me, I try not to think much about TMG or Tiny one way or the other. That way, I don't err on the side of being bitter.

But if I think about them much...

tommy posted on his FB that he was at an alpha party at OU & he missed it. the post is now deleted. i think he knows he made a terrible mistake.

What could have been... A lot kids make bad choices when they get away to college.

I try not to think about what might have been. That was then, and we have taken different roads. We can't go back again. Theres no use giving in. There's just no way to know what might have been.

There may be a way.

Pride goeth before a fall.Hope the kid gets his life together. Wonder why he was in Norman instead of back home in Texas(Houston ?)?
?

He needs to go get a freaking degree. Playing basketball is fleeting; that degree is forever. He could have had one here but as he said in of his interviews he did with the Houston Chronicle that going to class just wasn't for him.

im sure i'll get flamed by this but.. i think TMG's demise also falls on Capel.. you are his coach and players get crazy ideas in their heads from time to time.. capel should have found a way to talk some sense into this guy. he was an important piece. same with gallon. these aren't poor little unfortunate events, poor capel.. he was their coach and its pathetic that he lost control

I agree. He recruited them. He knew what he was getting into, or he should have known.

Capel admitted he knew 1 of the 2 could go pro after 1 year, but I would guess he thought it was Gallon because no way could TMG play defense well enough to play in the NBA after 1 year of college ball. But, maybe I'm wrong and it was TMG who had mentioned going pro to Capel before they committed.

I am sure Capel has spent a lot of time thinking about what he could have done differently. He likley has a lot of mixed emotions about TMG, Tiny and WW.

OK, forget what you KNOW happened last year. Now, tell me this. Would ANYONE ever have envisioned all that happened last year? C'mon...A TON of coaches recruited these players too. Capel deserves some blame, but sheesh, this guy got caught in the "perfect storm", IMO.
