LOL.
According to a source who was interviewed by an NCAA investigator, the agency is interested in at least four players -- two current and two who were just drafted by NBA teams.

If TMZ is going to go down this road, I feel sorry for alot of college institutions. I mean, come on, we know that this is probably true. The problem is that ESPN, Foxsports, and SI aren't going to let TMZ show them up so it's going to be a witchhunt.

I don't feel sorry for them. If they are dirty they need to be exposed and punished. Some will say, "well everyone does it". That may be true for all I know but if it is, I hope they all get caught. Cheating is wrong regardless of who or how many are doing it.

I didn't mean I personally felt sorry for them, but my point is TMZ is good. You never hear about TMZ having to retract a story and they cover very outrageous things. If they start focusing on the realm of athletics, it's going to have a trickle down effect. You don't think the NCAA isn't going to be a little harder on a program that got exposed by TMZ and the negative national attention they'll get from it? It's just scary because there reporters are like sharks in the water.

soonersam- great find. You are the man! DM- TMZ just seems to be reporting what the NCAA is already doing. I happened to sit next to a current college commissioner and former OU grad of the conference Calipari used to coach in. I asked him about Calipari's methods. He rolled his eyes and said something to the effect that he was glad to be dealing with Pastner now. He insinuated that Calipari was constantly under scrutiny and that there were people in the NCAA determined to expose him. They were just waiting for the smoking gun. Only a matter of time.

Gotcha! I agree with you.

As dirty as so much of college athletics is it really could get ugly if TMZ keeps this up.

As a guy that is a Kentucky fan i know why they hired Calipari...i wanted Billy Clyde to work out because i am biased towards him, but wasnt the right fit there...i guess Calipari is? Fits the Eddie Sutton mold?

I respect him for what he does as a coach, just wish all this controversy didnt surround him everywhere he goes...usually where there's smoke, right?

I want to believe that people just want to bring him down because he is always winning, but....

There has been a ton of talk about AAU, summer leagues, and basketball recruiting in general so it would be a good thing if some light were thrown on basketball. I've always thought that bball took a far back seat to football in the attention of the ncaa.

World Wide Wes has a relationship with Josh Selby's mom. This is the same guy who is the point man for the biggest free agents in the NBA including Lebron. And let's not forget about the Pump Brothers. It can really, really, get ugly

I run this story because even though it goes back to 2004 the quotes from Calipari were true and gave a clear idea of how shifty he was. When you have Memphis basketball players complaining about fur coats being stolen and the press conference that followed, you have to wonder how did Cal slip out of that one. Enjoy:

NCAA punishment is directly correlated with how bad a program looks in the media. If TMZ (or any other media outlet) drags a school's name through the mud, you can bet they'll be punished more severely for it.

I hope TMZ does start digging deep. College basketball needs to be cleaned up. I'm one who believes just about everyone cheats to some degree, and don't really have anything wrong with basketball players/recruits getting paid a bit for what they do. But I'd like it to be out in the open.

As much as I hated the TMZ story on Tiny, college basketball needs an overhaul because everyone knows its the dirtiest sport in college athletics.

If exposing the wrongdoing among the cheaters helps clean it up, I am all for it.

And yes, if OU is still dirty, they need to clean up their own mess.

Do you think paying players will actually stop the cheating. You could argue from a moral perspective that players should be payed for their service, but paying players will not lessen cheating. The great athletes will always get more under the table.

I don't buy that, not one bit. Lots of punishment handed down without media fanfare or prior knowledge. Most of the time, it is schools blowing whistles on each other.

As far as paying athletes, I think that would be the end of college athletics. I wouldn't be against the NCAA increasing the laundry allowance or even doubling it, but when you get into a system of paying players you always have those who think they're worth more than others, etc. Slippery, grimy slope.
