Was discussing this the other day, as OU has been woeful with their TO to assist ratio so far this year and was wondering what the team TO to assist ratio has been in the past.
So far this year they have 14 more TO's than assists.
Last year they had 107 more assists than TO's
Would anyone care to take a guess on who has the best TO to assist ratio since Lon has been here? Someone that played significant minutes. I was pretty suprised.
I even checked all the way back to 2001 Final Four year and found that team had about 100 more assists than TOs.
I know this may not be the most important team stat, but I get frustrated how little OU seems to value possessing the ball. We've had several times already this year where they have multiple, consecutive possessions without getting a shot up.
Ugh!
Just checked the top 15 schools and only Texas, Kansas and Louisville have negative assist to TO team ratios, with KU and Louisville just a few assist under even.
Maybe the Big 12 teams are the only ones who can't take care of the ball!
Call me crazy or old school or whatever, but I hope OU guards turn this around starting Saturday and I think this will be a key to the Sooners "long-term" hopes this year.
