I understand what you are saying Denver. Most people see the NBA as a league full of thugs anyway, when in reality a simple internet research project would show that the NBA ranks lower than MLB, NFL, and pretty close to the NHL for player involvement with the Justice System.
Most don't care, or don't react to anything like this concerning the NBA, because they have already labelled the league, some fairly, others unfairly.
With that said, its hard to compare professional athletes to regular 9 to 5 Joe's. Just look at last year when you had Arenas and a teamate pulling guns on each other in the locker room after betting over 50k on a dice game.. Probably not going to see that at Chesapeake or your local Wal-Mart, between employees. These athletes who are making tons of money, come from poverty stricken backgrounds, violence, and ignorance. Just because you give them money, doesn't give them character.
No different than churches who give 300.00 gaming systems for Christmas, to poor, poverty stricken kids in their communities, only to see the games broken or pawned within days. Having money and nice stuff doesn't automatically = good morals/values.
Not sure why you are shocked that message board posters would joke about stuff like that. Heck, it is common on these boards to see people joking about suicide, murder, rape, etc..... Just the times we live in. Of course the owners should be upset, but as long as fans are willing to pay 50+ bucks for a ticket, guys like Mayo/Allen will continue to make tons of money, and rich owners who make even more will continue to give them 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances..... Signs of the times....
