TRAE!!!- Announced as Asst GM- Donation

there were "team issues" when he was at OU that I think the coaches could have handled better.

I will agree agree Trae has been a great ambassador for OU. he's one of the people you can see when Dillon Gabriel hits Nic Anderson to beat Texas in that endzone.

Should Joe C. get some credit for this development? I would presume so, but I don't pretend to know.
I am predisposed to blaming Castiglione for most problems with the AD (facilities, compliance specifically but being behind the curve most generally).

TY seems very bought into OU (frequently at FB games, the whole deal flying the team to UGA). If this was done before the Curry news, I’d believe it more but again would assume this was brought to him by TY & Jordan more than anything on his end.

Would love to know more and especially be proven wrong.

I assume the he will report to Jim Nagy? Or is there going to be a full GM for Bball

It is my understanding that Trae is a Jordan Brand Ambassador (or whatever you call it). Meaning for a gillion dollars a year, he helps find and recruit athletes to sponsor jordon brand stuff. If this is true, it might be that he can help recruit kids by getting them Jordan Brand endorsement NIL deals if they come to OU. Would fit, as OU is a Jordan Brand school. If so, this would dramatically increase our ability to attract, and get paid, big time talent for the roster. We wouldn't need the big money donors for basketball like most schools.

Be interesting just how this works or what exactly Trae can do related to NIL. Guys, this might be more than just a publicity stunt, this might be a really really big deal. It will be interesting to see. Either way, it is a win for OU.
Trae's connection to both OU and Jordan Brand is a really big deal, as is his connection to local AAU basketball.

You want an alum in the NBA, period. It's even better when they give back and are willing to do anything to help the program.

This is a Really Big Deal for OU.

Can you explain how you know this? Joe C. would at the very least have had to approve the arrangement, I would think.
can i say that I know this for 100% fact (no i was not there) but I have been told by those who know that he was not involved in this decision .. and in general has been a hinderance to pretty much all nil fundraising ..

Love Taylor Griffin as GM.
Why?

What has Taylor done that makes him a good candidate? To the best of my knowledge he's been in the investing world most of his career outside of basketball.

You can't hire Nagy on the football side and settle for Taylor Griffin on the basketball side. Might as well not hire anybody.
