Trae Young believes he’s the best player in the NBA draft

Kid is so special. Really wish we could have gotten one more year out of him but I am excited to see him in the nba. He is, by far, the most skilled player in the draft.

Obviously we’ll know in the next 5-6-7 years but is he Steph curry or tad below or way below?

Because if someone thinks he’s Curry... he should go #1

Time will tell

I hope he does well. I like his game but he's far from being my favorite sooner player.

Regardless of his thoughts, he will likely get picked in the middle of the lottery. In various Mocks, I saw him as high as #6 and as low as #10...doesn't get any more in the middle than that. The main reason why is because he does appear to be that "boom or bust" candidate. Is he the next Steph Curry or the next Jimmer Fredette? That's at least being tossed around by NBA Execs.

I wish the young man nothing but success! Plus, if he does well, I can't foresee a scenario where that doesn't help with recruiting.

everything is shifting so much to smaller lineups and guards that I really think he has a shot to be very good in the league. I think you'll see more teams copying Houston's play and GS's small team play.

Jimmer's not a good comparision because he wasn't a point guard. Trae can play point, which means at the very worst, he's going to have a long career as a guy who can get you offense off the bench. Those guys are valuable, even if they can't defend anyone.

I think personally it's quite the opposite. I think he is one of the safest picks. I think low side is he's an above average PG starter, high side he's a steve nash type

Yep, the D. J. Augustin type. DJ was drafted #9 and ended up being a decent bench PG for 10 years and counting. And, in fact, he's the guy Trae would replace if Orlando drafted him.

Trae is a much better passer though.

Trae is taller than DJ right?

what is trae supposed to say here "naw i'm like the 8th best player 1-7 shouldn't even look at me"

Unless he forgets how to pull up off the dribble with a hand in his face yet bury a 33ft 3 pointer with ease time and time again... he should easily be a top pick.

As a previous poster suggested.. if Young ends up being as good as Curry then he should go #1. I think he's not a bust but actually one of those picks GM's will kick themselves later on for not selecting when they had the chance.

NBA Combine.......6 foot 1/2 inch tall................177 lbs.

Ouch, very small. OU listed him at 6'2'' 170... Curry measured 6'3'' 181 at the draft combine.. Curry also has a 36 inch vertical which Trae Young isn't even close on, and Young had the shortest wingspan in the entire combine.

At the combine Trae measured taller than DJ Augustin, Kyle Lowry, Jameer Nelson, Patty Mills, Ty Lawson, Mike Conley, Fred Van Vleet, Kemba Walker, Lou Williams, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, Trey Burke, Jeff Teague, Patrick Beverly, Darren Collison, and Eric Bledsoe.

His weight was greater than or less than a ten pound difference than twelve of those listed point guards. His wingspan was greater than or within 0.5 inches of 9 of those listed guards.

His size being a detriment is being blown greatly out of proportion.

He'll make a team happy with some great highlight reel material. I hope he can shore up the defensive side bc that will be the key to making any type of playoff difference for a team.

Looking like the Knicks are really interested. He could do well there with Porzingis.

Yep. Been saying that since December of last year. The publicity Trae received last season alone will draw fans to the arenas like flies. He will be an instant hit.

exactly. I was thinking that too. He's actually got a lot going in his favor.
