I would assume it was going to happen anyway, but the coach that recruited him to Xavier is now at Texas. But yes, some of these yearly transfers are comical

Still crazy to me to not consider potentially getting a ring vs. money. He still has 30 days to enter, unless he already has a destination in mind.

Not worthy of a new thread, but what is the level of optimism that the women actually land Chavez as opposed to her choosing Texas? I feel so beaten down with the football and men's basketball teams rarely landing the big names that I am reluctant to get my hopes up.

Maybe is she chooses Texas, all the money set aside for her can be diverted to the men.

Because the reality is the portal never "closes". Agents and players are having conversations all year long, and when it officially opens, they've already made decisions to leave.

The only way to slow it down is to retract the penalty-free transfers to any school at any time, but that would be immediately taken to court. And the track record of winning percentage in court by the NCAA during this new era is not good.

But when coaches are hired the day after their season ends, unless they have the Lincoln Riley magic interview process, they are talking while their team is playing, too.
