Transfer Portal 2025

wague should have been getting starter min (or at the min 20 min a game ) from at least dec on ..

maybe he would have been even better by the end of the year
And the more minutes he got down the stretch, I noticed his fouling, or at least stupid fouling, went down as he became more comfortable and confident on the floor.

He needs to get in better shape and stronger to be a major starter ( 30 MPG) but he should be, and should have been, playing 20-25 MPG minimum.

He adds some dimensions that we haven't seen in a while, even if he isn't a true low post banger. Excited for him to return.

I agree. the problem was, he wasn't. And even on his best days, he isn't the foundational piece Los and Oweh should have been.

Cole obviously accomplished nothing so it isn't a big loss in a vacuum, but still ... Moser himself has said time and again that he prefers to build around high school kids who stick around for 3-4 years. By his own measuring stick, he is a complete failure. Los, Oweh, Cooper, and Cole -- if you can't compete in the portal, you can't afford to miss on high school guys, whether because they aren't as good as expected, you can't develop them, or some combination thereof. As much as anything, this is why we, even more than most teams, have so much turnover from season to season. Maybe Dayton becomes the first guy to stay three or more years, but one kid every few years is not enough.

Well the idea of a system that keeps hs players around 2-3 years and only plays them sparingly in the interim, will literally never work (or they have to play immediately)..

They will always see greener pastures and that their limited stats are limiting their earning potential. They will always choose to leave.

Therefore we don't want players that don't force themselves on to the court after at most, 1 year. Like if atak doesn't play next year, process him, unless he's making hardly any money

Agree, which is why, of all coaches, Moser shouldn't be taking projects. But he doesn't seem to have learned that lesson. He recruits like it's still 2010 and he can take a kid, develop him for two or three years, and then reap the benefits down the road.

I mean some projects are fine but you better be paying them as projects..

Everything needs to be analytics driven and money-ball all of this crap

if the settlement passes there will be 15 scholarship spots .... you basically have to have some prospects ..

You can’t play 15.

Atak top 80 player if I remember correctly. Was likely told. Rs is a real option. Cost you $100k 85k maybe.

That seems high imo. I think projects should be like 50-70k maybe 70-100k for big men. Idk, i guess if he was a top 80, but i think a top 80 guy shouldn't really be a project and should play imo

I agree. Top 80 recruits should be playing. Overall, Moser’s development of players has been 50/50. But his RS development has been 0. Stop redshirting these guys and play them. If they aren’t ready to play process them out. I bet the big kid from Europe redshirts.

Who said anything about playing 15? You and others have argued for three years that one of Moser's strengths at OU has been high school recruiting. The highest rated recruits we have signed are Los, Oweh, Cooper, and Cole. All are gone now, and only two of them provided anything for us while here. No, you can't play 15, but when you are bringing in low and mid major transfers, you sure as hell better get more out of the high school recruits you are trying to build around.

I suspect this incoming class will be similar. The foreign kid likely redshirts, and maybe Rogers gets limited backup minutes, which means we again have to hope for a massive portal haul, with no Fears equivalent to bail us out.

Imo either kai rogers plays big minutes this year or pm better get 2 big men in the portal this year, which he won't (and then well be mega-screwed)..

We haven't hit on a foreigner since like najera. So I put the odds at this foreign dude playing meaningful minutes ever at like 2%

While you aren't wrong that we don't hit on a lot of foreigners Buddy Hield was technically a foreigner.

I'm not talking about technicalities. I'm talking dudes that were recruited out of foreign leagues directly. Buddy came from prep so we had a baseline of his talent against his peers vs hannas polla who played wherever it was that he played

Technically amath m'baye was a foreigner but I think we picked him up from somewhere over here

I think the technicality here is that Buddy did go to high school in Kansas which means he practiced/learned the speed and style of the game in the US. The foreigners coming from Europe/Australia typically have trouble adjusting to the size, speed, and style of play in the US
