Transfer Portal 2025

he hasn't been proven a portal wizard but you can't blame him for trying.
wasn't he trying to get garrison and pedulla?
put those 2 on this team and i think we would have been a whole lot better.
Don’t think so. Have pedulla you don’t get fears. Pedulla isn’t as good. You don’t Michigan with Sean.

Garrison idk if he win or loses us many more games. If you have garrison and fears then likely.

But that role seems to be changing and some players aren't willing to do that. It happened as soon as the women's season ended as well and they got a commitment from the #1 player in the HS ranks. The STARTING Pg entered the portal because she knows her role was going to change and she clearly didn't want to give that up.
I began by saying I'm sorry to see Miles go. I'm also sorry to see Scott go. But it's a very different situation. Baranczyk is bringing the top talent in the country at that position. Jenny's also had a team loaded with talent for four straight seasons with almost no players transferring out (and some terrific ones transferring in, year after year). She's also got two more highly ranked recruits coming in next season, in addition to Chavez. Also? Sorry as I am to see Scott go, Miles' stats were slightly better than hers.

Some here are assuming Miles knows he wouldn't be starting. I don't know how that could possibly be unless Moser told him so. If he did, that was unwise, as we have no guarantee whatsoever of bringing in someone better. Tell him he'll be given his chance to earn the starting job, and if he's doesn't win that battle, he'll see plenty of minutes off the bench. All I know is one more solid player is departing when we already had a slew of spots to fill. It happens year after year and it gets old.

Thats the life of college basketball at this point. It’s happening everywhere with most programs.

One team, which I believe was Akron literally sent out a message, saying all of their players were returning and like the very next day one or two guys entered the portal.

KU is losing the majority of their roster again this season, including Bidunga who is leaving when they have no returning post players at all. None of it makes sense other than ‘better’ opportunities elsewhere for the players.

This new ‘era’ is definitely not for the faint of heart

I'm not moving the goal posts a bit. Moser's been terrible at retaining talent from the jump and I've commented on it all along. And yes, we had a solid season and Miles played a role in that. So I'd like to see him stay. What's so hard to understand?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This. I'd go as far to say that had Moser not lucked into Fears at the 11th hour, he would no longer be a coach at the University of Oklahoma. I'll give him props for not getting in his own way and letting Fears grow early in the year, but that doesn't mean he didn't get lucky. This roster was pretty much a disaster otherwise. I think one would be hard pressed to find a time where a team with a lottery pick in the upcoming draft did not make the tourney (I'm sure it has happened but I'd bet it's few and far between). Which means the fact that it almost did with us speaks to how poor the roster around Fears was.

You also can't compare the mens game and women's at all. Women don't have nearly the same $$$ that the men are bribed with. So much easier to retain

Lottery picks missing the NCAA tournament is pretty common. Rutgers has two top 5 picks this year and missed the tournament. Bub Carrington in 2024, Taylor Hendricks in 2023, Jalen Williams in 2022...

OU might close on Tae AND Frankie.

That would be terrible for shooting/floor spacing reasons.

I hope I'm wrong. I'm not in any DMs. Reading the tea leaves a bit. Hard to do in the portal era where so much is being ran through agents.

If you want both then maybe you'll be excited....to each their own.

Fair enough, but I actually think this may prove my point. Those guys attended schools that either weren't regulars in the tournament or were borderline tournament schools typically. Meaning the reason they missed out on playing in March is due to the lack of talent around them. Rutgers has been to the tourney twice since 1991. Pitt is typically a good bball school but we all know how poor of a coach Capel is (also fun fact they've only been in the tourney once since 2017), UCF has only made the tourney once since 2006, and Santa Clara hasn't made the tourney since 96. We were almost in a conversation with those programs had Fears not gone nuclear the last week of the season.

In my opinion the team looked the best it had all season in the last 2-3 weeks under Moser not just Fears. They had a terrible shooting night against UCONN and still were in the conversation late in the game. Yes, Fears had a lot to do with that as well, but the team definitely improved after what everyone thought might be the end of Moser 3/4 the way through the conference season.
