Transfer Portal 2025

I’d be willing to bet a good chunk of money that we at least reach out if/when he hits the portal. I’m not convinced Garrison is really a “cancer”, he seems more like a guy who talks a lot of trash. From what I’ve seen, his teammates at Kentucky seemed to really like him. For what it’s worth, Fears is a huge trash talker too, and he was loved by the team this year.

My bigger concern is the financial side of things, not the locker room fit. If he’s expecting the same NIL deal he had this past year, he can keep it moving. There are better players out there with more proven production. But if he’s open to a more reasonable NIL number, then it’s worth having a conversation.

With our current back court, we’re definitely going to need rim protection and he could really help in that area.
I don't think he has any desire to be a Sooner. I think he was trolling us last year and never really considered coming here....

On Garrison he would at least help create space for Pack and Davis, especially Davis to drive. He shot 30% from 3 this last year for Kentucky, not a huge sample size but did improve. Would atleast have to semi guard him leaving lanes for Davis.

I'm good with adding him if its at a buyer friendly deal. If not? then get a more physical defensive/rebounder type.

Garrison was a sooner before UK called. He has a child and turning down extra money wasn't gonna happen.

He'd make us better but like others have said he burned some bridges last year.

He wasn't a problem in HS or OSU. UK he just made a choice to play the heel.

Why do people assume he would be a locker room problem? There is zero indication his teammates at UK didn't like him. When he angered OU players/fans this season, he was an opponent. That's an entirely separate issue. Players change teams all the time in pro sports, and usually, any hard feelings that existed when they were opponents are quickly forgotten once they are wearing the same jersey. I hope that if a player who would help the program is interested in us (no idea if he is), we aren't dumb enough to say no because we are in our feels.

Implying that hes a volatile hothead. Just unpredictable what he could do to team chemistry

Correct, Our players talked shit to Arkansas fans after the win at there place. Pre-game he hugged all the coaches, and to be fair after sitting courtside for a few games this year Fears talks a ton of shit.

Bulls fans hated Rodman at Detroit but welcomed him when he joined the squad. I’m jaded by him waving postgame of the sec tourney game but I want us to add talent and he’s certainly that

And it's pretty obvious that money is his leading motivator, at least, it has been.

OU needs guys that want to compete and win.
I mean let’s be real he got a significant raise to play for the bluest of blue bloods. We would all take a significant pay raise in our own careers, nothing wrong with that. If he values playing in his home state and we can afford him at a position of need what’s wrong with that?

You take him if he’s willing to be a Sooner. I doubt he’d be a locker room cancer just cause he talks crap on the court. My issue is that something is clearly holding him back from reaching his full potential. He’s clearly getting recruited over at UK, which means Pope doesn’t think he’s gonna get much better.

kentucky can afford the best available.....and a good backup.
at the moment....we can't. so we have to get the best we can afford. and that may be kentucky's backup.

He’s not Kentucky’s back up. He’s Kentucky’s throw away. But I get your point.

This is a divisive subject. We seem to be split.

I get sick of seeing people say this.

Most adults don't shop themselves to the highest bidder EVERY chance they get. They don't. I get to see a lot of different workers in my line of work, interact with them, look at employer turnover, and that isn't how it works in the real world. And folks definitely aren't shopping around and leaving for small bumps.

Some fields are different. The IT field may be different. That's an exception to that rule. Otherwise people would just constantly be jumping jobs and turnover would be thru the roof. Not talking about low income jobs either, like the food industry.

what if i told you that you are only guaranteed to make big dollars for the next 3 years and then your pay will go down 70% (or more)

would that change how you viewed looking for a job??
