Good news imoLusk saying it will not be financially feasible to bring in Claude now that we have decided to bring in Brown

Think you’ve got a couple getting healthy that could have some similarities.By far his best portal cycle on paper.
Wish we could somehow get a Soares type
He averages 7.5 2pa per game 48% from the field. 5.1 fta per game 89%. He got around 11 ppg from inside the arc.Sorry IAP, but has Brown strictly been a PG?
I haven't seen him at all, but his numbers are great. 3-pt percentage dipped a bit this season but still solid, and was very good his freshman season. Very good rebounding numbers for his size, although that would be hard to replicate in the SEC. If we get him, we definitely need to make sure that our 3-man is a very good defender and preferably tall and/or long -- he and Pack together likely will be exploited defensively unless the other three guys on the floor are good defenders.
I heard from my friend's bmd that nico was told by heupel that either he was actually going to get a pay cut bc the production was not there or maybe a paycut like a 1/3 of what nico asked for (i wasnt sure which). So they told him that was the number, take it or enter the portal (there is still hope for the sports somewhat)I say don't save money this year. Sign all the talent you can, particularly if they have more than one year of eligibility. If the House settlement goes through this summer, then this might be the last year of the mega pay to play contracts. If so, then there is a chance our talent will be stuck with us on their current deals and it won't make sense for them to test free agency after next season. This is exactly what the colleges hoped for when they agreed to the settlement. Don't know if it will work out that way. But, future deals will be limited to "fair market value" on NIL deals. With a presumption that almost no one has a value exceeding $600,000.00.
This is why I think Nico (at Tennessee) did what he did. Many believe you have to get the mega deals now, before they are a thing of the past. While I say go all in, if you can, now. I'm with whoever said that, if we get Brown, they want our money spent on a center instead of another guard. I think if you get brown, you can find a competent back up guard with 2000 kids in the portal.
Can't say that I have watched to much of the committed kids play. On davis, I have only watched his highlight film. There is no way he can be as good as his highlight film. But, his numbers say is a good player and probably a decent or comparable player to Moore. Haven't watched much on Pack. But, have watched a little on Brown. Sign me up. He looks like a pretty good player to me. Hope we get him.
Jones has never been compared to Soares. Waldo is a great athlete who came in and improved his shooting. Jones is billed as a 3 and D guy. If he was anywhere close to Soares as a pure athlete, we would have heard that over the last year.Think you’ve got a couple getting healthy that could have some similarities.
Brown is prolly my fave player added so farIt doesn't push Dayton to the bench. He never left the bench, respectively. I say that as an obvious Dayton fan.
I honestly can't believe this Brown thing worked out. Brown/his dad were selling themselves as a pairing and OU said, "we'll do it".
Otherwise, OU might have ended up with Claude.
I'm firmly in the "I'd rather have Brown over Claude" camp, for sure.
As stated by others, add another combo, and another big type (McGriff, probably)...boom, national championship.![]()
That would be great if true. We have too many guys who have been on the roster for years and have produced nothing, yet we keep hearing about their potential and how good they look in a uniform. Basically, that applies to every RB and WR on the team, and PJ and some other defensive guys. I couldn’t care less how Burks and Jayden Gibson look in 7-on-7 in June when the temperature is between 65 and 70 and their hamstrings feel great and there is nothing on the line. I don’t care how many community events they go to or how the SOUL mission is going. If Nagy can objectively evaluate talent and production, and minimize the damage Brent does, that would be great.I heard from my friend's bmd that nico was told by heupel that either he was actually going to get a pay cut bc the production was not there or maybe a paycut like a 1/3 of what nico asked for (i wasnt sure which). I was told to expect some surprising portal entries from OU football when the portal opens. The Nagy dude does not mess around and he is given A LOT of authority.. there's generally either an increase in production so you get a raise or the production wasn't there so a decrease or get in the portal. Some possible exceptions for "potential". But I think even like former 5 stars might be hitting the road or asked to reduce (maybe like a pj adaware (whatever that spelling is).
Really good news about Nagy imo. We're finally operating more like a business. I hope Joe C shuts his mouth and stays out of Nagy's way.

I guess I’ve just never heard jones referred to as a really good athlete. If he were that plus a great shooter plus a great defender, he would have been an A list portal player last year. Please please please understand that I’m not suggesting he won’t help us. But Soares and the version of Moore we saw last year were the best athletes we have had since Alondes williams. I just don’t think Jones is the same type of player. Maybe he is better, maybe worse. But definitely different style and strengths, unless all the reports are wrong.“some similarities”
Jones & Nwankwo both have good length & will compete & disrupt defensively. Both can make jumpers & are really good athletes.
Waldo was also a better shooter than his percentage ever showed at Oregon, he just took a lot of bad shots. That was the improvement at OU, he cut down on those.

He’s not going to be able to get downhill or create for himself like Soares because he can’t handle the ball as well & doesn’t have the same 1-on-1 ability, & you don’t want him playing the 4 really like Soares could, but he’s absolutely a good athlete. Obviously TBD on the back situation.I guess I’ve just never heard jones referred to as a really good athlete. Agree. Need a good big, and need some athleticism and defense. Maybe JN provides both and Jones the latter and shooting. If Brown is official, the three we have so far are a very good start. My 1 fear for JN is that the Achilles injury negates some of the athleticism. He looked very athletic on film pre-injury...hopefully he is fully recovered.
Jones was supposedly one of our best players before his injury. I don't know how good of an athlete he is but I want ballers....period. supposedly he can stroke it....hope that's true. So far it SEEMS we are putting some good pieces together....depending on who we still add.
