Transfer Portal 2025

All logic goes out the window with NIL.

There’s gonna be entire human psychology classes in the future about what NIL and transfer portal did to the human brain.
Oh I agree. It’s kind of like spending taxpayers money on stupid worthless projects. I still don’t see them paying him close to $3.5. Where’s he gonna go, to the NBA?? 😂. I don’t see him as a guy who’s gonna garner a guaranteed contract at that level…he’ll be lucky to get drafted in the 2nd round. I just don’t see him as an NBA player…I hope I’m wrong, I like the kid and wish him the best.

NBA? There is nothing about OO that makes me believe he's an NBA player. nothing. Not being mean, just calling a ball a ball and a strike a strike.

NCAA needs a salary cap for football and basketball.

Bad shooters don’t shoot 42% from 3 at any level. And I don’t think taking Reid has any bearing on how Porter feels about Jones or Nwankwo. He’s just trying to add the best players possible and let the positions fall where they may. Jones can play the 2, and Jeff can play the 4, etc. when you’re playing 4 or 5 out, none of that matters a lot. The key will be what position will Reid be guarding on D. My guess is, not the 3.
If he shot 42 percent but only attempted one or two per game, on uncontested looks against high school defenses, that doesn't mean he will be a capable shooter in college. He shot 26 percent from 3 and 58 percent from the line at Bama. Again, I am not saying whether he is or is not a guy who could be a capable shooter. But the high school numbers mean next to nothing.

Is every high school baseball player who hits .350 a good hitter? Of course not. Some of them wouldn't be able to get a hit against a good D-1 pitcher if you gave them 50 at bats. Go watch a college basketball team warmup and you'll see guys who never even attempt a three in games make a high percentage from distance. In my mind, being a "good shooter" means you can do it in games, when the lights are on and there are other high level athletes guarding you.

Hell, just in the past decade, we have read preseason reports about some of our centers "expanding their range" and shooting well from the perimeter in practice and scrimmages. Then the games start, and they never take a shot outside 12 feet.

Yeah I don’t know the number of attempts he had in HS…I’m assuming it’s much much more than his attempts at Bama. He had small sample sizes in both 3 pt attempts and FT attempts. I’m guessing he could hit in the lower to mid 30’s from 3 with consistent minutes. His shot release actually looks good. I hope we get him, but am not holding my breath. I think he’s just trying to drive his price up…so we’ll see.

Baseball is totally different to me. Most great hitters hit .450+ in HS. I played a little baseball and hit .325 or so, and baseball was not my game at all. If he played basketball at a decent level in Hs and shot over 40% from 3 though…that’s elite at that level. My daughter led her team in 3 shooting % at 36% this past season in Hs. Most players on her team were in the mid 20’s. I get it, boys sports are totally different than girls….but at 6’8 40+ % is solid as hell. I wonder what kind of price tag he will get?

46% on EYBL circuit but only 26 attempts.

Add the best players and it’ll work out. Obviously 5 a little weak but get him and figure it out. Maybe find another wague late.

Do we have the money for both. We gotta be close to spending limit with Reid. I'm guessing Reid, Davis, Brown, Pack are all close to 7 figures at least.
