Transfer Portal 2027

But for a program like OU, it’s unrealistic to think we would be able to get three or four high quality big men, at least not while Moser is here for another year.

That's been the case at OU for decades. Sampson discussed at length that there a bazillion quality players 6'5 or shorter for every one taller than that, which was his impetus for 4 guard offenses at WSU. Lon whiffed on damn near everybody that was 6'10 or taller

It's about balance. Getting guys like Rooths that can balance the limitations of our other players (i.e., rebounding and guard mobile bigs / big guards) is an important part of this process. Getting a defensive minded post and defensive minded guard (both of whom score at a high % in the lane) would be a great way to shape the roster, assuming we can surround them with shooters and strong ball-handlers. Just need to see who else we get.
I agree on waiting.

But we have not seen a decent Center mentioned, and the two most likely guards at this point (Mingo and Barrett) are both horrible shooters.

Just sayin'.

If we were serious, we'd move Reid to the 4, have spent on a decent 5, and spent even more on guards.

I'm more of a fan of having 3 good guard types on the floor, then I am of being "NBA big" at the 3, 4, and 5 spots.
It seems like this is the best road to success. Guard-dominant teams seem to find more success at the college level than teams loaded with bigs, but have average guard play.

if elatonsev gets another year.....he and rogers would probably be a decent rotation at the 5.
on a better coached team of course.

I don’t want to start a mess of a rumor and I have zero inside information on this, so please don’t run too far with it, but…

Is there any chance we would’ve gotten involved with Oswin again post-Creighton commitment?

McKay followed his agency, Roc Nation Sports, yesterday.

They’re also the agency for Brandon Garrison, JJ Mandaquit, Taylor Bol Bowen, Amari Evans, & Brett Freeman. Could be literally nothing and just a GM following the agency after negotiations. Just wanted to pass it along because I saw it.

He also followed Excel Sports Management today, which is Kayden Mingo’s agency.

George from scoop thinks the other commit is a center.. but he's mostly just been following women's recruiting so who knows, Bob doesn't seem to have any info...

Well, that rotation would be worse than Mo and Kirill were this year, and that didn’t exactly work out well.

I see comments about the new guy’s athleticism. Remember, you are seeing highlights. In other words, his best handful of minutes all season. Last year at this time, people were head over heels with Davis and his athleticism. It wasn’t nearly as good as advertised. Dude struggled to make layups against SEC athletes. He showed glimpses, like his dunk in the conference tourney, but he didn’t show it consistently. And if you aren’t skilled, sometimes you don’t find a way to get your athleticism in the game. I have no idea whether that will be the case, but worth noting.

I don’t know that he’s posted it but Brody has said it’s a center as well.
We already know he’s a gritty kid from the streets of Harlem. He’s 6-5, 6-9 with the Afro and he does all the dirty work that needs to be done to win games.

I like Elatonsev. Seems to do the little things well. Some of it is probably related to not having really any lede time to learn our defensive rotations, but he seems likes going to be too slow against some teams. I guess Rogers has more athleticism than him. But it would be not good to have them as our only bigs.
