Travis "Trailer Park" Ford on the clock(thanks Boca)

Rick barnes for sure and probably mark turgeon. Rick barnes has been to 1 final four, 2 elite 8's and 2 sweet 16's just at Texas. I think he's been to the NCAA tourney 15 or 16 straight years. And has like 1 or 2 losing seasons in his entire career. Kruger has 6 or 7 doesn't he. I'll take barnes.

You're correct buttermilk. OSU needs to improve on thier 20 win season and thier streak of 23 straight winning seasons.

Buttermilk, good one that was funny.

Well I hope you keep Trailer Park for many years and continue the trend of 14 of your 20 wins against rummies, letting a rapist play all season and finishing the season with 1 win in the NIT at home against Harvard.

Don't keep up much with current events do you buttermilk?

He has 5 losing seasons in 25 years. Three of them occurred in his first three years of coaching at Texas Pan Am, meaning that he has had two losing seasons in the last 22 years.

Losing Seasons:
Tex Pan Am: 3
KSU: 0
UF: 1
Illni: 1
UNLV: 0

You lost me at Mark Turgeon...was that supposed to be a joke?

The 180 that's occurred on this site over the past week is pretty interesting.

About a week ago, most of you guys were ready to jump off a cliff and declare OU basketball dead in the water, especially after Buzz Williams turned you down.

Now the future's so bright, you've gotta wear shades. :)

P.S. I think Lon Kruger is a good coach, but to read some of the threads around here, you'd think that he was everyone's #1 choice. I don't recall anyone clamoring for him a few weeks ago.

I'm confused... How is it a 180 when all bok said was that OU hired a "great coach"? I hope you aren't disputing that... Given his pedigree, one can make a compelling argument that he is the 2nd best coach in the Big 12.

And so what if he wasn't everyone's #1 choice? That doesn't prove he wasn't a great hire. I think you are letting your perception based on a few posters distort the reality of the situation.

OU fans should be excited with this hire. He has a fantastic reputation of turning programs around and has a great pedigree. Simple as that.

As for Kruger he is, by all accounts a very good coach, but I saw a post of yours (and I know you were probably bocatrolling) where you said he was on the same level as Pitino and Calipari. As an outsider looking at Kruger's career record, it seems Kruger has a definite limit on what he can accomplish, he has never out right won a regular season title, and there seems to be a trend of regression the longer he is at a place. Which indicates to me that he's not a good recruiter, or he gets complacent, or bored the longer he stays at a place.

I think he's a really solid hire and I fully understand the excitement and optimism of hiring a new coach, so good for you guys!

I can't disagree with your sentiments. I don't think he has the pedigree of Pitino or Calipari, but I certainly don't think its a stretch to suggest he's a Top 20-caliber coach.

And you do bring up a valid point that some of his teams had the habit of regressing... I think many coaches have done that, problem is they stay longer at their programs to get back to or around the optimum level they had previously reached. This is almost certainly Kruger's last stop, so I think he will be here long enough to not see his program see a permanent regression. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

As for his limitations you mention including the lack of an outright conference title: I see what you are saying, but if Kruger is taking OU to Sweet 16's, Elite 8's, and Final Fours like he has in the past, then that will be perfectly fine with me. And Kelvin Sampson never won an outright conference title at OU, but I would gladly go back to that era of Sooner basketball any day of the week.

It won't be an overnight change, but I fully expect Kruger to turn around OU like he has at every other program he's been at. That's all I can ask for at this point, and hopefully there will be some very good tournament performances along the way.

The only problem some OU fans had is the reverse of the problem most Missouri and Okie State fans have ...

We underestimated the strength of our program while Missouri and Okie State fans consistently overestimate the strength of their programs.

I won't get into Mizzou and Ok. State fans' expectations, but you are exactly right about the general attitude of OU's basketball fanbase.

I can't tell you the number of my fellow friends/OU alums that fail to realize how great of a tradition OU basketball is. Especially now when some of them have become a prisoner of the moment due to how bad OU has been the past 2 years... OU is traditionally a Top 20 program, and arguably the 2nd best overall in the conference. I definitely wish more OU fans would realize that and not downplay OU's worth like many do.

OU went out and got absolutely the best guy for the job; OU is traditionally the best program in the state and I expect that to continue. The fact that the "usual suspects" are downplaying that FACT and CLK only makes me happier.

Deep down in their orange little hearts they know it; which suggests a question: Does and orange heart bleed green? I think so.

So he has 5. My bad! Point is, barnes has a better overall record and better tourney success than Kruger! Sounds like a better coach to me. Turgeon hasnt finished lower than 6th place since being in the big 12. Willing to bet Kruger won't be able to say the same thing in 4 years.

This is what I'm talking about, a troll is so scared about this hire that it has to come on here and try to convince OU fans that it sucked. Some life a troll leads.

Nah! Thought it was a good hire not great. I think he will be better than capel but worse than Sampson. Not one time have I said it was a crappy hire. Simply disagreed that he was the 2nd best coach in the league. It's your story though, so I'll let you tell it.

Based on resume, he is on at least par with Barnes, a step behind Self. Spin it however you want, CLK was a great hire for OU...good news OR bad news is, that is why they play the games. We'll get to see over the course of the next few years.

How is 1 sweet 16 since 94 on par with a final 4, 2 elite 8's and 2 sweet 16's since 2002? Nevermind.

Your name is basically OU Circle Jerk and you're not a troll? Why don't you run back to whatever board you came from and join their "Tugfest?"

Glad you conceded and as an OU fan extremely happy to have him. Enjoy your workout there tugger :)

Now I'm absolutely positive OU hired the best guy for the job!

Just like Kelvin, CLK is going to be the human middle finger to a bunch of trolls.

No osu fan is afraid, as much as you guys seem to think so. The players are hardly in place for him to finish top half of the league next year. The conference gets even tougher next year which will make it hard for a quick turnaround. Kruger has his hands full to say the least.

Trailer park? thats the best you got?

My name makes me a troll? I haven't made any rude remarks or demonstrated any troll-ish behavior. I just wanted someone to tell me what makes Kruger the 2nd best coach in the big 12. I was just curious.
