ESPN is saying it was a mutual decision but apparently he just walked in and quit to the shock of everyone in the program according to twitter.

Turgeon wasn't a guy I wanted OU to offer, but he's certainly better than Danny Manning.

I’ve heard conflicting stories on this. Seems hard to believe they would honor his buyout if he quit … that would seem more an indication that he was fired. If he did, in fact quit on his team a month into the season, that’s a horrible thing to do to his players.

Guys don’t usually quit after the season has started unless there’s a scandal or a health related issue. There has to be more to the story.
