I don't know how many times this thread will come up. But play this guy more. He was one of the better players we had today. Fitzgerald was pretty good today also. But Tyler Neal looks like he can be a star player if he gets more experience. He only did good today. I don't get how he plays so little.

Yep. Start Neal at the 4, move Cade back to the wing and Pledger to the bench.

The only reason he hasn't done much is the reason Nate Carter didn't do much in the first half of Capel's first year. He doesn't play much.

I corrected it with a couple missing words. The first half of his first year Carter averaged like 3 points and 2 boards a game in 5 minutes a game.

No the only reason he's not playing much is because he's getting accustomed to D1 bball. He's not quite ready. He is too up and down and inconsistent. Yeah one game he may score 16 (UVA) but another time he does nothing (Baylor). He's a good guy to come off the bench for now. In the future, he'll be a starter, never anything special.

i agree but can we tell him that he is allowed to jump and try to block a shot

There isn't a player on the roster that has done much this year. This season is lost. Get his growing pains out of the way now. I can see Capel not playing him more if he is coaching for his job, but I highly doubt he is.

Tyler has tons of potential. He has a nice stroke, he has a good feel for what he should be doing on the court, and he's smart. All he needs is playing time to improve his defense and adjust to the speed of a more physical college game. He certainly can't do any worse than at least three players on this team who have been getting more minutes. I agree with Tony. Play Tyler!

Anybody think he can eventually give us what Nathan Walkup gives TAMU?? Not meaning this year but by the time he is a junior or senior.

Does Tyler Neal remind anyone of a young Mike Gminski?

You have to reember that Neal didn't play AAU ball so he is not as experienced as if he had. There will be games that he playes really well and games where he playes really bad. So I don't think he needs to start and play 20-30 minutes a game right now. But I do think he should be the first or second guy off the bench and play similar minutes as he did today. If he's playing well, play him. If he's not, cut his minutes back a little that game. But I do think he should play in every game the rest of the season.

Hasn't done much this year. I think he'll be good before it's said and done but he's not quite ready yet.

If i'm not mistaken he had 5 more points, 4 LESS fouls, and 2 more rebounds in 20 less minutes than the "face of the program"... I'm all for less minutes for Caderade and more minutes for the Great White Hope! :OUbball-logo::OUbball-logo:

Don't know about him becoming a "star player", but I do agree that he does need more playing time.

This season is lost. Main focus should be to start the games with getting Pledger, Fitz, and Clark as many touches as possible, and also to get Neal more minutes. Time to build toward the future.

And what give up on Cade? A guy that has given 110% his entire time at OU! A guy who is the teams 2nd leading scorer. A guy who is the best defender on the team.

Giving up on this season sets a terrible example. You always play to win no matter how bad you are. If Capel does give up on this season the I'll jump of the bandwagon and say he doesn't need to be here. There is a diference between giving up on th season and getting young guys more PT.

You can still do right by Cade and also make the transition to focusing on the guys who will be the core of the future. Oklahoma basketball is bigger than one person. No one outside of Pauly D is suggesting Cade just be benched from here on out.

Programs simultaneously compete and plan for the future all the time. Ask any coach who has ever redshirted a player.
