Unc women's basketball under investigation

Saw that scroll on the SEC network afternoon. Watched NC play in the tournament. When the announcer said Hatchell was in her 33rd year there, I got ill thinking Coale might be at OU another 10 years.

I saw that. I wonder what is going on. Watching Baylor stamp Iowa right now...they are so incredibly tall. I don't know if I've seen a women's team This tall across-the-board before! Can anyone beat them? Maybe Notre Dame. I certainly hope so. I don't know these girls personally but something about Lauren Cox and some of the other Baylor players just rubs me the wrong way...makes me think they are dirty players.

I'm truly puzzled about Baylor as a supposedly Christian University. For goodness sake, Mulkey was just interviewed and was cussing on live TV. There is no way a University seriously pursuing a Christian value system would allow that. Or hire and keep a coach who talks that way. Especially on live TV. In those situations she is representing the University and its values. Is that really the image they want to promote?

Treatment of players.

Rash of transfers, coach was out for treatment.

it is a joke isn't it?! I almost went to school there because it was a Baptist School and that's where I wanted to go. I'm glad I didn't. Just imagine how vulgar those practices are, the huddles, let alone halftime speeches, especially if they are losing. she's an effective coach no doubt, not necessarily a classy coach. I suppose Baylor would rather win than lose with class...

Oregon has 6 players over 6’, too, tallest is 6’6”, so they might have a chance.

I went to Tulsa the other day

I watched some of the ND/Stanford..ND looks tough too. This may be one of the few times that anyone has just about the same chance..but I still sorta lean towards Baylor a tiny bit.
Yes Oregon looked great

I hate the way the officials let the mayhem go on in the middle. Cox was shoving Gustafson all over the court and just running over anyone to get to the rim with no calls. Not just this game, but if the defender is standing still and constantly getting bumped by the offensive player it should be a foul and if the offensive player is getting pushed from behind to get them away from the rim it should be a foul. But seldom called and that gives Baylor a huge advantage in this tournament.

Baylor is scary good. Only a tightly called game gives a team like Notre Dame, UConn and Oregon a shot against them.

Very true. That is according to the rules of basketball. However that has not been how both the men's and women's game has been called for some time. I think it is being done to accomodate TV's desire for higher scoring games. Consequently they have changed basketball conceptually from a finesse game to a physical game.

Allowing officials to loosely enforce the rules leads to a greater discrepency in how is called from one game to the next which is unfair to the players. I would support changing the rules to how they want the game played and then insist the refs call the game to the letter of the rules for the full 40 minutes and discipline officials that put their whistles in their pockets the last 2 minutes of the game. Doing so would result in the refs having less of an impact on the outcome of the game.

Throw in the emphasis on scoring BTA and lack of emphasis on the fundamental of the game I think the game is not as good of a game as it once was. JMHO

Speaking of enforcing the rules - is there an actual rule that says if a player who has the ball ends up sitting on the court, it's a walk? I thought that constituted moving your pivot foot. I know that's the way it used to be called but I've noticed numerous games this year where the officials ignored it.

Seems to me that they always say the rules have been changed. Then, they may be changed slightly for a game or two. Then, it is back to the way the conference prefers the game be called.

I just really look forward to ND or Oregon's Bigs making Baylor's Bigs look slow. Just because they push their way through the Big 12 and the competition they've faced so far doesn't mean they will get away with it in the F4.

This is the most excited I've been to watch the Women's F4 in a while. I think anyone of these 4 could actually win it. I really hope Baylor doesn't though..

Report: UNC women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell accused of making racist remarks

Warnings that players would be "hanged from trees with nooses" and forcing players to compete despite potentially serious injuries are among the accusations levied against legendary North Carolina women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell, according to a Washington Post report.
