@usabasketball: Halftime score: #USABWWUG 56, Brazil 32. @AE3zzz is the only player in double figures with 19 points, including four three-pointers

Good win for the Americans. But, the USA had 23 turnovers...not good.

Reading these boxes is not always clear.

Turnovers: US 16 Brazil 23

If the US had a problem, it was in shooting threes. The US was 8 of 29 (Aaryn was 5 of 9 whereas everyone else was 4 of 20).

Two point shooting was pretty good, 33 of 55.

In three games, Aaryn is 8 of 18 from three and 16 of 34 overall. She is 2 of 3 from the free throw line and has nine rebounds. One assist, 4 turnovers, 4 steals. 42 points, 57 minutes.

Through three games:

Ellenberg 42
Lewis 42
Liston 36
Hartley 33
Bradford 29
Harberts 26
Sims 26
Schimmel 23
Hooper 23
Gray 18
Plaisance 15
Massingale 13

What has become interesting is the when of Aaryn's scoring. Against Brazil, she scored 14 of her 19 in the first 5:30 of the game, giving the US a 22-5 lead. In the last game, she scored ten of the first 15 points for the US, all in the first 5:34, giving the US a 15-7 lead. She is coming out of the game hot and giving the US the lead early.

Given the recent history at OU and the tendency to start slowly, this would be nice. This may also give Aaryn the confidence to take over a game. If she can do it at this level, with these teammates, she might feel more inclined to take over an OU game early.

A couple of things affect that...the level of competition, having a PG get her the ball where she can take advantage of the defense, and whether the defense can afford to slack off another player to double her.

The US will play the loser of the Sweden-Russia game in the first round of the quarterfinals. Friday, 7/12.

Sweden narrowly lost to Russia today. USA will play Sweden. Russia beat USA in a friendly scrimmage before the tourney. So, USA faces a challenge going forward. Hopefully they can continue the hot shooting.

I think USA wins easily. They are shooting much better than they did in the first game against the Russians and they are now playing some defense.

I agree. I think the US will probably beat Sweden by at least fifteen. When they play Russia again, I expect a bit of emotion will lead to a twenty point win.

USA was in group B
look for game #20, Wednesday game vs Brazil.
nice to see where we take and either make or miss the shots from.

you also can get the minutes breakdown for each group of players on the court, so you can see which groups got a lot of time together.

Why dont we have this stuff in the NCAA box scores?
