Per release from Texas Myck Kabongo has declared for the NBA draft.

Kabongo is a real good player. But, he is one of those kind that are looking to leave as soon as they get to college. Those kind of guys are program killers.
They aren't good enough to get a team over the top. But, they disrupt and set back the whole operation when they roll in and then blow out. Barnes is making that mistake more frequently. And just like Capel, that will be the mistake that gets him.

Rick Barnes can't catch a break. He might lose his job. I don't know who they are bringing in but losing McClendon and Kabango is big. Wasn't there some talk about Lewis transfering?
He returned to school for his sophomore season, can't see how you can say that. His leaving was guaranteed by the NCAA royally screwing him out of basically his entire sophomore season.
It may help OU vs Texas, but does nothing to help the Big XII as a conference. The conference needs better players to elevate its status...tired of Kansas being the only school that seems capable of competing at a high level on a year-to-year basis. I'm sure no one thought Rolando Blackmon and Steve Stipanovich helped OU when they went to KSU and Missouri back in the late '70s, but those two got the conference noticed. Wayman Tisdale and Danny Manning then built it into one of the best conferences in hoops over the next 25 years or so. The last few years have seemingly gone backwards for the conference...not seeing many great players.
Now, it seems all we do is celebrate when great players go to schools outside the conference...fine, but it ceertainly isn't going to make any of us better. I'd rather see a Blackmon or Stipanovich player go to a rival (but not Kansas) and perhaps "up the ante" and get this conference moving in the right direction. I think THAT will help OU long-term.
The NCAA didn't screw him out of anything. He took the money.

I sure won't miss his head flailing anytime someone breathed on him.
Barnes doesn't deserve any breaks, he's been fast and loose with the rules for a long time. It's finally catching up with him.

The Big 12 had the number one pick in 2009, 7 of the top 24 picks in 2010, 5 first rounders in 2011, 3 in 2012, and will be well-represented this year as well (possibly two top-five picks). Talent hasn't been the problem. The problem has been that two of three most talented programs over the last few years (plus OSU) have terrible game day coaches.

By my count, 10 of those 15 first rounders (16 if you want to count Alec Burks) in the past three drafts were from Texas and kansas (two each from Iowa State and Baylor).
That much of the talent concentrated on two teams (and one of those two imploding) isn't good for a conference. kansas might be as down as they've been in a couple decades next year, and still no other team looks poised to challenge for the Big 12 title. Not a good sign. (I realize the SEC has much the same problem)
