If that is correct they have changed the foremat, before the losers bracket winner would cross bracket to play the winners bracket winner. For example last year we played washington, then oregon, but then baylor who cross bracketed to our side

Last year LSU lost to Florida in the bracket 1 semis they then moved over to the bracket 2 elimination bracket and played elimination winner in bracket 2 Oregon and loss. Hence the elimination bracket 2 winner was originally from bracket 2.

Conversely Washington lost to OU in the bracket 2 semis and moved over to the bracket 1 elimination bracket and played bracket 1 elimination bracket winner UCLA and won. So the elimination bracket 1 winner was also originally from bracket 2.

But both LSU and Washington flipped brackets after losing in the semis. Washington continued to win. LSU did not.
