We may be close to landing a Juco Point Guard

I think I found the reason he is not at Tennessee...sounds real shady from Tennesses part to let him pay all that money then not give him a scholly

Nice find, lucky! I agree, none of what I read in this article passes the smell test. I have feeling that Pearl is lied through his teeth when he said "Daniel chose to stay in school and complete his first year. We never told Daniel he had a scholarship for next season.''

Why would the kid enroll at Tennessee and then stay in school if someone on Pearl's staff (maybe the head coach himself) didn't make him believe he had a legitimate chance at being on scholarship the following year? Pretty low thing to do if you ask me.

This thread is from the twilight zone. One guy wants an Omar-Leary type player. serioulsy? Some guys have already written of Fitz already in is young career.

I like this kid, i will take talent over height anyday. We may have to play 4 G sets again at times next year and can come in and play PG and TMG can slide over to the 2.

Also, how does a player enroll and attend college but not qualify for a BB team? I would think if you grades are good enough for the Univeristy to accept you and take your tuition, you would be able to play ball.

This guy sounds just fine to me. We don't need a scorer. We don't need a guy that wants to play 35 minutes and shoot 20 times. We just need a backup PG that has some maturity and can spell TMG for a few minutes and guard him in practice.

We can always use a defensive minded winner who takes some of the pressure off of TMG.

He certainly doesn't sound like a kid who would come in feeling all privileged and such.

At this point, if he's a hard worker and team player, I'd take him if he can play at all. Admittedly, it's a lot of frustration talking, but I do want to see guys on the floor who will hustle, play hard, and play defense.

Good find on that article lucky and definitely sounds like the reason he isn't going back to Tenn.

I say its a good get because we are definitely going to need a good PG to spell TMG and TMG can play the 2 if they are both in there, add in the defensive aspect and it looks good to me. It doesn't say anything to me about TMG leaving, more Ray Willis.

Thats interesting...with as well as he scores...maybe he can play the 2 in college if needed? Maybe he would be just as good at the two, and some could say that since he dribbles and shoots so much he could fit in there...If we ran that scenario with two pg's one would think we could play alot of pressure defense..full court..

No matter how good a defender this kid is, sliding TMG to the two will only hurt us. Puts TMG on a bigger kid, and even worse, puts a bigger kid on him. Also takes the ball out of his hands. TMG will likely be our best player next year, any backup better be ready for really limited minutes, or he better be able to play the 2, IMO.

Gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out. I bet we have as much movement this offseason as we have in any other. I think Capel is going to shake things up, out of both necessity and choice.

TMG can't play the whole game, many games this season he has struggled in second half because he is tired.

One thing about the Florida Juco system, they generally have alot of guys who sign D1 and due to a situation, don't end up at their school whereas other juco programs are filled with guys who don't get D1 offers.

+1.

It is a real good league, especially Pensacola, Chipola, etc.
