Agreed, as those are games you should win as they are bottom dwellers in the SEC. But we never led against SC and struggled mightily in the 2nd half against MSU.

Those that bother me more are Alabama, Missouri, and Arkansas. Those are games you HAD and could have/should have won, but not for the late game mental collapses. Secure those as they not only offset the SC and MSU games, but they also give a big boost in standings and NET rankings. Would also be like #8-9 in the SEC.

And how much different would the outlook be if this team was 16-9 and 6-6 with winnable games left.

I've been banging this drum for a long time, but we are ranked 358 / 365 teams in Ken Pom's Luck ranking, which is the difference between your efficiency and your projected record. We have played good enough to be a tournament team, but we have not finished those games. Not only do you see it with your eyes, but the numbers clearly reinforce it. That is coaching 101.

I would have thought far worse than that, though I suspect many of the wins were games we were up much more than 5 and ended up hanging on for dear life (see, Atlantis, Nov. 2024).
