Welcome back Tools...

No doubt. The Owen Field posters are over here looking to find someone to replace Kevin Wilson and Landry Jones....:ez-roll::ez-roll:

Ha

The fact of the matter is that Texas is loaded. Rick Barnes will have to pull his biggest choke job yet not to win the Big XII tournament with this squad.

Anyone expecting to stay within 10 points of Texas was dreaming. They are a legit NC contender... in fact if I were to pick a bracket right now I would have them at least in the game.

In their defense this is the first game they've watched all year. It's a new experience to realize just how hard it is for this team to compete in the Big XII.

This isn't the first game that Bob, Abd, I, Skyview or many other that have criticized Capel have watched. I have probably watched more Big XII games that don't involve OU than most OU fans have watched games involving OU. There are legitimate reasons to question Capel. With that said, Capel has earned my support for another season and I will not change my position even if OU loses all of its remaining games (but he will have a short leash next season if that happens).

Considering the "talent" he has to work with he's doing an acceptable job. Write this year off and see what happens next year when we'll be starting over. The year after that will tell.

So he gets a pass on three rough seasons? His feet aren't to be held to the fire until 2012?

Having talent on hand is part of being a head coach at the college level.

If we don't see a significant improvement next season -- and I mean a trip to the Big Dance -- we will be less than an afterthought nationally by the following season.

The point is not that some of us expected us to stay within ten points of a top ten team last night, it's that the program has fallen so far that we're now chastised for those expectations. We're now expected, it seems, to calmly accept blowout losses at home.

No, you're expected to be a rational human being. Texas won at Lawrence by 11, at Stillwater by 15, and at College Station by 20. I'm not saying we shouldn't expect more, but to take this loss to Texas and use it as rationalization to rip into Capel is ridiculous.

Capel is responsible for OU having little talent on its roster. How many years does Capel get to turn around the program? I am tired of the excuses of being young or whatever else people can come up with. I guess my expectations are like Skyvue and fear OU basketball becoming an afterthough nationally.

Does A&M have little talent on their roster because Texas beat them by 20 at home? Does OSU have little talent on their roster because Texas beat them by 15 at home? Does Kansas have little talent on their roster because Texas beat them by 11 at home?

You guys are jumping to conculsions based on a loss to one of the best teams in college basketball. It wasn't long ago that this team won 4 straight conference games. Can you win 4 straight conference games in the Big 12 with "little talent"? If so, Capel should be coach of the year.

This gets overlooked more than anything else, I think.

OU and its fans really arent that different from Tech, Nebraska, and Colorado fans right now. Hoping for upsets, hoping to be competitive, hoping to stay within 10 or 15 of good teams, shocked when they actually win, etc.

But, it will turn around eventually.

I agree.

Obviously I wasn't referring to you four because I've been reading your posts all season. I was referring to the 10 or so posters who had about 35 combined posts ranting and raving last night.

I'm not jumping to conclusions; I'm disheartened that we've fallen so far that we're expected to take last night's loss calmly. Yes, texas has a terrific team, but we used to at least put a darned good scare into such teams, if not pull off the upset. Now, we're expected not to be disheartened or voice complaints when we get our tails kicked at home. Last night's game wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. We could easily have lost by thirty.

In the twelve years Sampson spent at the helm, we suffered a total of seven double-digit home losses. Under Capel, we've suffered that many in less than five seasons -- with at least one more to come this year, I fear.

Not to mention that Texas' largest margin of victory prior to last night in Norman was 10, and yes, they could have lost by 30 last night. It was a 20 point game the entire second half.
