Well, football sucks. Bring on BBall season!

Might be a blessing in disguise for ou basketball. The season is over.. fans won't get there usual fill of sports and maybe hop on the ou bball wagon

It's obviously been a disappointing start to the season, but anyone who turns their backs on the football team now is a fairweather fan at best. The Sooners can still go 10-2 and win the Big 12. Will they? I have no idea, but I'll be watching to see.

That said, I'm very excited for the start of basketball season, too. Call me a multi-tasker.

This loss and the ones down the road, could increase support for the men's Bteam.
The game was vivid display of why 4 & 5 star players are usually better than 2&3 star players. The 5 stars were quicker, stronger and smarter.

The OP didn't say he was giving up on the football team. He was expressing his disappointment in the season so far. I'm right there with him. Anyone who pretends to be satisfied with OU's performance through two of the first three games is only fooling themselves. I'm not the least bit happy about, and I'm not too proud to admit it!

When was the last time an OU football team gave up 45 points on their own field? That's like allowing a stranger to come onto your front lawn and kick your dog, after insulting your wife and slapping your teenage daughter.

I would be lying if I said losing to Houston and then to Ohio State at home when we were never in either game in the second half didn't have me plenty upset! Most OU football fans, including me, are accustomed to expecting more.

Does that mean I am giving up on the season? Of course not. I'll be glued to the tube for every game until the final horn sounds on the season. I simply have to resign myself to the fact that we're not playing for a national championship anymore. Yes, we're still playing for a conference title and an invite to a bowl game. But, that's a hard pill for me to swallow three games into the season!

You don't get more bball support because the fball team failed expectations. You do it because you support the bball team and they are coming off an incredible season.

I don't understand how fans think the season is over. We lost 2 to 2 top 6 teams. We can win the big 12 and still play in a big bowl game.

The football program has family issues. I think the game has changed so much Mike is just chasing his tail.

For my part, I was responding to the second poster, who explicitly pronounced the season over (the OP sort of implied as much--in any case, his post could be read that way).

Well said. I don't have much of an issue losing to elite teams or very good teams for that matter. But I do have a problem in that we have developed a pattern as of late...and that is consistently getting blown out on the big stage. Our last three big games against quality competition have, by all intents and purposes, been over by the start of the 4th quarter....or even sooner (last night). I don't know what the answer is, but I do know this year's squad has multiple issues with regards to talent and execution....and the coaching, as demonstrated by the product on the field, has been woefully sub-par. I will watch every second of their remaining games this season, but count me in as someone that is more than ready for hoops to start.

This simply isn't true. Unfortunately, many of our fans have a tendency to discount (or, seemingly, to forget altogether) our wins against quality competition and focus only on our losses.

Do you consider LA-Monroe quality competition?

Which one isn't true? Clemson? Houston? Ohio State?

You're all correct -- somehow the Clemson game eluded my thinking.

My apologies.
