Well, I guess we'll find out if Buzz is Joe's candidate in a couple of days

He doesn't have a corn pone image.
You mean he can read and write? What kind of image is that for a basketball coach?

He has certainly taught a lot of people how to spell, Butler.

He signed a contract extension after last season through the 2021-22 season.
This, hard to seeing him leaving there unless an elite program comes calling.

How many times on this board did Jeff Capel get criticized for getting blown out in a game? For me, tonight's game was an audition for Buzz and imo he failed. I can live with the corn pone bs as long as Buzz preaches both offense and defense. If Buzz is the best OU can get, I would rather see Joe pay KS 2 million dollars.

Sid, name a coach who has not been blown out at some point in his career? You're putting too much stock in one game. Marquette got out of the gate slow, and the downward spiral continued from there. OU found out what that was like two years ago when we faced off against UNC.

The Tarheels have an advantage few teams in the country can lay claim to. They reload every year by signing some of the best players available. The difference in talent was obvious tonight.

Good grief. Where did you come up with that one? Corn pone image has nothing to do with it. Anyone who doesn't think Stevens would be a good hire should not be discussing basketball on a fan board. He has proven himself several times over. He has also made it clear that he is not going anywhere. That's why he signed a contract extension last year with Butler that takes him through 2021.

Three weeks ago, Buzz got blown out by a sub .500 Seton Hall team in the same building. As long as Joe hires a good recruiter that preaches offense and defense I will be happy.

One game doesn't mean anything to me, but a 15 point half and no offensive plan that I could notice at least makes it one game that's hard to forget. That said I hope he comes and does well.

Some people are never happy. And never will be.

Hmm...
Buzz Williams addresses his Marquette future as Golden Eagles' season closes down... bit.ly/ik1AFt #Sooners

In reality it was one half, not an entire game. Marquette outscored the Heels in the second half. Of course, the damage had already been done with a pathetic 15 point performance in the first half.

I'll be the first to admit that I was anything but impressed with what I saw in the first half of last night's game. Marquette couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, but UNC had a lot to do with those misses. Their length and athleticism had Golden Eagle players intimidated and out of sync, playing like they were in a rec center gym, not the together team-centered brand of ball we saw in the first two rounds.

I have no idea if Buzz will take the OU job, but I'm still solidly behind the hire if he's the one we get. If not, I have no idea who I want? There are other coaches out there I would be happy with, just haven't thought that much about who would be the best fit.

Good post. Getting beat by NC is a non issue.

hahhahaha. At least u keep this board entertained with you negative nancy comments. Nothing is ever good enough. Another serious question that you will dodge: Who would you like OU to hire?

UNC was just a bad matchup for Marquette... Marquette has versatile, smaller guys. Zeller is a 7'1'' center who is very skilled, and had a monster game. He dominated the whole thing.

Not to mention the numbers that Henson and Barnes added to the domination

Sid -- did you like Kelvin Sampson?

I know you didn't care for Capel, as you and I were both vocal about him needing to be gone. However, I did like Sampson and thought we were going to miss him.

People were saying the same thing about Gary Gibbs after the JB fiasco.

5-6? If Kelvin would have had the passion for recruiting, and emphasized offense more, he would have been fine. He was 5-6 for a reason and it wasn't because of his Xs and Os. His lack of passion for recruiting required him to focus 100% of his time on defense.

5-6? What do you mean by this?

Kelvin was a good enough recruiter that he made a final 4, an elite 8, and the NCAA tournament every year but 1. The deal is, Kelvin recruited a specific type player who would fit his program. He didn't take chances on kids like TMG, Tiny, and WW because he knew they would be cancers.

Heck, Billy didn't sign many highly rated guys, except Wayman so did you like Billy?
