West Virginia, 1/8 3:00 PM

It's funny that Ortiz is listed at 5'9, when 5'8 Ray was towering over her tonight... I think Ortiz is about 5'3, still she playes with a lot of heart, her offense game is just limited to shooting 3, a lot of times she got in the lane tonight she didn't try and pull up or hit a floater, she just dribbles back out to behind the 3 point line... I still think we have a chance to place atlest 3rd in the big 12 this year, but if we are to win a big 12 championship which will have to go thru Baylor, well need a more athletic point guard...

Mac, I agree with you about where we may finish, but we will have to avoid the kind of play displayed today to finish 3rd or higher. There are still a lot of challenging games ahead - starting this Wednesday. I would like to see us win at least 4 conference road games - and that will take significant effort. To finish higher than 3rd will take even more road wins - along with at least 8 home wins.

This is an experienced upper class ball that has no consistency nor any leadership. They are little more than an extension of what we saw last year with the addition of a couple of parts in Mulkey and Dungee that will be very productive in time. The question is will it happen this year, next year or in their junior year. For certain no one knows.

I think this team will lose another game or two to the conference teams not named Baylor and Texas. Might split with Texas but not probable. It may be embarrassing both times against Baylor. Hopefully we can go 12-6 in conference but I see 11-7 as more likely.

I see a year similar to 2015 and 2016. Close but so far away. Hopefully Llanusa will be the aggressive take charge player that can lead this team in another year or two to consistently compete to win every game. For certain we need 4-5 girls on the roster with the talent and potential of Mulkey, Dungee and Llanusa with at least one that can take charge and lead this team to the next level which is something the coaches can never do. It has to come from within the team.

What an absolutely dreadful performance. I have no clue what this staff is doing. The substituting drives me bananas. There's no reasoning behind it. Williams comes in, hits 3 buckets and we don't see her again. Some girls are on the floor for a brief time, some never get in the game despite horrendous shooting by those who do. Girls get winded. They don't cover the 3 point shooters. 11 turnovers (all unforced) in first 18 minutes. Guards can't make free throws. Players just standing watching a team mate in distress.

Can someone teach Mulkey to stay where she can rebound and prevent easy layups? Can someone tell me why our assistant coaches look lost, no enthusiasm. Are they forbidden to show they care?.

I would apologize to the fans for having my team play this poorly.

To offer something positive, Williams, Edwards and Ortiz played with intensity.

Athletic isn't the only answer TT is very athletic- what all good teams that go through a point guard has is a point guard that understand pace versatile able to drive shoot 3 and pull up but more importantly a point guard who knows how to win and understands the responsibility of making teammates better by drawing defenses reading mismatches etc my biggest prob with most point guard is they can do a lot of individual things but don't really have the ability to make good players better - OU has some good perimeter players and a nice post - involve them from the pg position which in turn will keep defenses guessing!

+1 this is what I have been saying all year...

It's hard for me to say any one problem with the ladies program but WVU was the more talented team out there today. We can point fingers here or there but I think most of it falls back to the one in charge. I mean when players keep making the same mistakes again and again and the coach continues to allow it..who else is to blame?

The irritation that some of us have is that OU was the most talented team out there last night. We played a top twenty team on their home floor, somewhere that it takes a good team to beat them. I suspect that OU will handle them quite effectively in Norman and in Dallas, if necessary. It is frustrating that they didn't come to play early in this game.

On to Iowa State. It has got to be better. Maybe Manning can put on a show for her family and friends. Hope Kellogg gets to play also. Last time for both of them to play before their home towners.

Just now got time to comment. Disappointing game, but tough to play at West Virginia, and inconsistent is our middle name. The Seniors and leaders need to lead, not disappear. Gabbi, LaNesia(first half), and T'Ona (second half) were the only ones who seemed to bring a little extra to make up for teammates struggling. Peyton had a hard time scoring, Maddie???, Gioya usual up and down, centers beaten by a good tall senior at home, Chelsea still a freshman. We are going to have to work hard to be third in the conference.

Iowa State is critical for us. If we lose to them up there, which is not out of the realm of possibility, that might send this team into a tailspin. I'm not sure they have the drive, intelligence, will and ability, to recuperate from hard times.

This has been a problem for Sherri's teams since Hand left, and really a bit before.

NCAA rpi rankings---after West Virginia beat OU. It was a road loss in the Big Twelve.

I guess the biggest gripe I have, and have had for a while, is this. You have girls playing Division 1 basketball, the highest division in college athletics, and they can't make an uncontested lay-up. Don't know when they are under the back board and just throw the ball up, or drive to the basket and can't hit the square. This is basketball 101. It infuriates me that either coaches don't teach and correct or players just don't care. That and a team that doesn't have the fire to compete against a top 25 team. I could go on, but it is frustrating to watch a team fight and come back against Kansas State, then the next game lay a big fat egg. I agree with most of the posts here, this team is marginally better than last years, but not much. At this level of play they will be hard pressed to win 11 games. Hoping someone can turn this around. The seniors are not playing like seniors on a consistent basis.

I know what you mean..what's bad the ones making these mistakes over and over will get another chance to do the same in the next game. S.C. maybe needs to hire someone that knows fundamentals of basketball or someone willing to teach it to the players

Then apply for the job....

And report back how that works out for you....

I'm not a coach..but for 1mil a year I think I could teach fundamentals. At least show some replays of teams that seem to do it well..Baylor, UConn..ect

I'd rather see you get the job so we know the we could continue to see more of the same o' same o'. I know for certain the Mulkey would have then making 25% more of their layups within ten days or they would have splinters in their backside, maybe permanently. They would also know that getting the ball above the rim is the first key to making the shot.

This is what the gripe on Mulkey before. She is out on the wing area way to much. When I said this before 2 posters on this board got upset when I expressed these concerns.

Her positives massively outweigh her negatives. She's improved a lot since the season starts and I'm sure she'll improve in this area, too.
