West Virginia, 1/8 3:00 PM

Well, Gabbi heard Sherri's half time message. Play like we've played before!

Nice effort. Hustle. Gabbi is having her best half of the season so far in the second half.

WVU playing solid defense.

Arghh...Sooners surge to close the gap (two gutsy Edwards drives), then the 'Neers counterpunch with transition baskets... Gabby has risen above it, so is Vivi a bit.. now it's time to find out how much guts and brains reside in the Crimson jerseys...

What I never get is it is well known Maddie is the straw hat stirs the drink but when she is not on she is usually really bad not just poor shooting but poor decision making. Williams comes in first half and makes immediate impact and her athleticism is for sure needed- she flows well in this game- did she get hurt?

Maddie absolutely stinks today and Peyton did too.

Don't know if Maddie is hurt, but her she seemed listless-- she didn't seem to show up today...Sooners still in it until Martin drains the two treys...

They are shooting it well and everything just seemed to flow OU seems to be forcing a lot- even when they closed it to 6 - at this point better decision making could be the key stat for OU - as a unit no doubt playing on the round is always a huge factor

This one was disappointing. But honestly not unexpected.

We played pretty poorly against K State last time out and were very, very, very fortunate to have won. Then today we played about as bad as it is possible for anyone to play in the first half (other than the entire game against Oral Roberts - which was probably a warning). If you watched the game today, I assume you heard Sherri's comments at halftime. I don't think I have ever heard her sound so angry and frustrated with one of her teams. The second half they tried harder and actually won the last 20 minutes,

But that has become the way this group plays every time out. One - or maybe two quarters of really good play, then a couple of horrible quarters. Get prepared - that is likely all they have in them. I do expect they will have a couple of games where they play well most of the time (may even pick off one of the better teams that way) - but they are not able to do that consistently (and will likely get beat by one or two very weak teams).

As some have pointed out, we do not have a player we can count on consistently. And when both Maddie and Peyton struggle, we are in trouble. Gabbi was excellent today. TT struggled again. Williams played well. I think its time to let Williams play all - or almost all - of TT's minutes.

In addition, WV played as well as they can perform. They have struggled in their previous conference games (39% overall and 38% from the 3), but today shot far above those numbers.

I do believe West Virginia is a team OU can beat

You are correct, but we are going to have to contest their 3 point shooters. We are awful slow in switching and they are wide open on too many shots. This is not the first time this has happened.

Did Williams get in the game the second half? She played and shot good the minutes she played the first half.

I haven't been this disappointed since we lost to Stanford when Courtney was a freshman. I haven't been this disappointed due to the lack of our play since---Oral Roberts this year or North Texas last year.

Maddie---Morgantown is in West Virginia. You need to come back just so you can make that trip once. The worst game ever for Maddie.

TT hurt us badly at the end of the first quarter when her silly turnovers led to a seven-point lead that we never got back until the fourth quarter. She was OK, for the most part, late in the game, but a disaster early. Gioya---learn to watch your passes.

I was pretty happy with Peyton and Gabbi. Both made a couple of bad decisions. But, they played well overall.

When our posts can't score, why lose the ball trying to feed the post?s

This game is on my favorite player. Don't let it happen again, Maddie. This was a very winnable game.

Maddie always plays bad against physical teams. You can't play scared like she does.

Williams gave us 6 points in the first half when we really needed some offense......and then she never got back in the game??? Why?? We need offense.....If someone has some hot shooting, leave them in there... Too bad Maddie didn't show up......we can beat this team, but we ALL have to show up. Her 10 - 12 points is what we were missing....We lost by 10, but it felt like 30......I hate to play "catch-up" all the time....I watched IA St game today, and we will have some trouble up there, as well. Just gotta show up!!!!

So many of the mistakes seem to be mental- I liked TT and Ortiz in the game during the fourth quarter - but the first half you are correct TT was a mess- but think about it you lose your starting position you are now a 15 min sub - Ortiz was able to capitalize on her opportunities and even though I didn't think she was great first half tt was worse I thought she just pressed to much tried to win that spot back in 4 min- the players have to assume their roles - and as far as Maddie she has stepped up as consistent as she has been this year yes today was awful and I just think the staff had to think she will snap out - I guess I just see a less than good performance for Peyton and Maddie the difference is good players find other ways to contribute - Peyton did that - Maddie just let the pressure mount and fell apart in the end that was recognized but as a player she has to feel good the staff had confidence in her she just needs to learn to have that consistence confidence in herself

Saw just a few minutes but Nancy seemed to outplayed by a shorter, more physical player. Her movement seemed stilted for the 1st time that I have seen this year. Just wasn't moving her feet to keep herself between the WVA center and the hoop.

Senior versus freshman that's to be expected...

It's funny that Ortiz is listed at 5'9, when 5'8 Ray was towering over her tonight... I think Ortiz is about 5'3, still she playes with a lot of heart, her offense game is just limited to shooting 3, a lot of times she got in the lane tonight she didn't try and pull up or hit a floater, she just dribbles back out to behind the 3 point line... I still think we have a chance to place atlest 3rd in the big 12 this year, but if we are to win a big 12 championship which will have to go thru Baylor, well need a more athletic point guard...

Athletic isn't the only answer TT is very athletic- what all good teams that go through a point guard has is a point guard that understand pace versatile able to drive shoot 3 and pull up but more importantly a point guard who knows how to win and understands the responsibility of making teammates better by drawing defenses reading mismatches etc my biggest prob with most point guard is they can do a lot of individual things but don't really have the ability to make good players better - OU has some good perimeter players and a nice post - involve them from the pg position which in turn will keep defenses guessing!
