Anybody care to guess what the score will be if we play them like we played ouewe? Oh the progress we must make in 2 days boggles the mind!!

It's not ad much progress as it looks. Play with more focus, help better against the press, and we cut down 6-8 turnovers without changing anything schematicaly. Our guards and Spangler know what to do, they did it just fine last year at home against west Virginia. Just have to be razor sharp for 40 minutes

We will handle WVU easily. You heard it here first.

I have the same feeling. We will come out focused and bury them. Every game takes on its own dynamic and we will impose our will on Saturday.

It's funny. After a lesser outing, one can count on some "If we play like that against Team A, B or C, you can count on (fill in the doom and gloom of your choice here)" posts.

But when we win big, no one ever says, If we play like that, we can beat every team we play by double digits (or something equally pie-in-the-sky).

When we play a great game, it's generally understood we won't that well every time out, but when we play a bad game, the leap is always to the notion that this is the new normal, this is the team we are now.

Funny, that.

This kind of game has been coming for a while. We need to develop a half court offense so that Buddy and Woodard dont have to carry us. Buddy starts pressing and that doesnt help. And the defense certainly needs to get better. The opponent drives to the basket and scores or kicks it out for an open shot. It will catch up with us and nearly did tonight.

That's just it though. All this team has to do is get back to the business of playing like they did in every game except the second half of tonight's game, and that includes our triple overtime loss at KU.

This game was an anomaly. Buddy with 10 turnovers; Ryan not having his best game; Khadeem in foul trouble; the worst defensive half of the entire season so far; almost nothing on offense from our bench; our inability to stop their PG's penetration dribble.

That's a recipe for disaster when you're on the road in the Big 12, yet we came away with a win. I'll take it and be happy!

Spangler looks like he's losing his shot. Looked really rough out there tonight

He was...
6/11 (2/4 from 3) vs KU
6/9 (2/4 from 3) vs KSU

Your basing purely on a 2/7 (0/3) game?

I'd like a little larger sample-size before jumping.

Chicken littles don't need a large sample size. They only need a game, a half, or a bad 5 minute stretch...

I hope we get in a good wide defensive stance against WVU guards Sat ... They can penetrate much better than the Freshman that torched us.

WVU is a much better team than last year. Their press is better and their guards are very good.

OU 81 to 80 in OT.

Not sure I agree. I think that every time we play really well, it raises expectations that we'll play that well every game. That's just not reasonable. We played outstanding against Kansas. To many, I think, they saw this performance as typical of what they should see every time out, rather than us playing near our peak. To me, this is why people can't abide when we have a bad half.

We got out coached in the 2nd half. If we had played some zone, possibly a box and 1 on Evans, we may have coasted to the win.

Laughable. There's a difference between players not executing and getting out coached. Last night was definitely not a case of getting out coached. I will say Ford did do a nice job getting his team to the finish.

How often have you seen us play a zone this year? How about a box & 1? It is patently absurd to think that a team who never plays anything but man can just draw up another defense at a timeout or something and have the team go out and execute it well. My guess is that we practice man very seldom and have never practiced a box & 1. You can't just go out and tell these guys who've barely ever practiced a specific defense to play it and expect them to do it well.

If Kruger had told them to play zone last night ( which is particularly susceptible to dribble penetration, btw) we'd have lost and the players would've thought that Coach panicked and overreacted to 1 player's hot night. It would have been a disaster.

Well? Do you feel any different today? Obviously, he was big on the boards and so was Lattin. But, his shot is not there as it was. Could it change in one game? Absolutely. So could Cousins'. We are really still waiting on his to come back though. For us to pull these games out with our team somewhat struggling to shoot well is a testament but it can only last so long before it costs us. Lattin's improvement has been monumental in our success. He has not only gained confidence but has become a decent 15 foot shooter.

But, West Virgini is a very good team and I would say they are better than Kansas. Big win and I am pumped about possibly having that #1 beside The University of Oklahoma come Monday.
