The hype has been building around Roe for a long time now and it seems like anyone who plays with him or watches him play are convinced he's going to be a top Big 12 player.

So what does Osby need to do as a junior to meet you expectations stat wise?

I am expecting 14/7 out of him in his first year. Considering he averaged 4 points and 2 rebounds per game at MSU, I think you could say my expectations are high. 14/7 are very good numbers for a guy who has barely played any meaningful minutes since high school (4 years ago).

Well, I like to think of players and rate them as part of a group. At the top would be the elite player. That would be those legit leave early and get drafted types. The next would be those that were all grape nuts in HS and a big splash on the AAU circut and were well thought enough to get to a competitive school. And then on and on from there. Osby is in the 2nd group. There are quite a few of those kind around. Not enough for everyone to have one. But, enough for most everyone to have a shot at one. Signing him was a good get. OU will be better because of him. The problem is that the Kanasa's of the world are all group 1's and 2's. Irreguardless of his individual stats, OU will just need a couple more about like him to progress very far. M'Buy doesn't have the exact resume. But, he may be of that calibur. OU, may be just one or two players away from competing at a level that would put a smile on even us old geezers faces.

12/5, he has alot to prove considering his production at Miss St. The hype around him reminds me of Nate Carter.

I voted for 12/13 points and 6/7 rebounds. I should probably put the lowest option because I don't want to expect too much so I can be really surprised if he exceeds that and satisfied if he meets it.

I am not saying he's not capable of doing more, I just don't think it's fair to him to expect him to come in and save our program by expecting 20 ppg and 10 rpg per game because it probably won't happen, but you never know.

14-15/7-8

FWIW, I'd be thrilled if he could be as bad as Nate Carter was once he actually got some playing time in the last half of his Senior year. Even though all you hear is how good the guy is, I'm still with BoB and my expectations are somewhat tempered.

Well he has been hyped up to produce Blake Griffin Numbers, however im not that optimistic. i voted 12 and 6 but i think its more like 12 and 8. There just isnt that much competition on our team for the Boards right now

I don't understand all the hype...he never averaged more then 4 points and 2 rebounds a game...I hope he's not being set up to fail!!!!!... I hope he just plays within the offense and attack the boards, play sound defense. He looks like he can be a leader and help Pledger and Fitz lead the team...Remember he couldn't get more then 20 minutes at his previous school, where he was recruited too, in a weak SEC.

Until he proves me wrong, and I am hoping he proves me wrong, I am going with 6 points and 5 boards. How we can all live and believe the hype without seeing it is beyond me. Flame away, and please prove me wrong young man (Osby)!

I went 12 and 6 too but how can you have a feel if you haven't seen him work out with the team.

I think Capel said he was the best player on the roster but with a weak recruiting class and his job on the line you could forgive him for being a too optimistic about what a difference Osby could make.

Who has really seen him in relatively intense competition.

Too hard to predict. He hasn't played in two years. He struggled at MSU. He has talent though. New staff. New system. We don't know what position he will be playing. We don't know how many shots per game he'll get. We don't know what the guard play will look like. Pace. All of that affects what Osby will do, it's not just "how skilled is Osby."

That said, I think he'll be one of the top 2-3 scorers on the team, most likely.

exactly. way too many variables, namely not having played in 2 years. who knows LK might not see that Osby is as "great" as Capel thought.

but if he's going to give up plus energy and athleticism like we're hearing, even without much skill he's going to walk into 8-10pts, 8rebs per game i would imagine.

No one – with the possible exception of the OU coaching staff – has any idea what type of numbers Osby will put up this season. We should all just hope he's as talented and skilled as Capel – and now Kruger – believe him to be.

And numerous other sources, including players on visits etc.

Who knows. But the argument that he didn't post any numbers at MSU so he can't be that good is silly because he didn't play at MSU, so he couldn't have very good numbers. If he had started and played 30 minutes a game and had those numbers then I buy the argument.

If someone wants to argue his inability to get in the starting lineup there should be a concern or reason to minimize expectations, then I can see the argument but I'm not sure I agree here. I say that because I have a MSU grad buddy that tells me that he played well when he played and was a fan favorite. So, maybe it was an "opportunity" issue.

I'm not much to expect or not expect anything. I hope he is good enough that he is better than some of the guys we know about, because that would mean we would be better. Plus, he is a pretty big athletic guy and lord knows we could use some size and jumps.

A lot of you are expecting a high number of rebounds from a wing player.

I have a feeling Osby may get off to a slow start to the season...but I think (hope) he can average 12-14 points and give us about 4-5 RPG. He and Fitz should make a nice offensive duo.

he will not play on the wing. He will play the 4.

I think this is a fair post. I'm really starting to think that he will be a legit 14 and 6 type guy. Those that I konw that know him just say that he is on a real mission to dominate and prove that he is can be among the best in the big 12. The guy puts in hours upon hours of extra work in the weight room and the gym. He is certainly doing his part to live up to the hype right now.
