There has been some talk about Sherri going with a 4 guard offense. Does the signing of Gibbs indicate Sherri still wants more of a traditional PF?
First, I'm somewhat confused when people talk about a "traditional PF". What does that mean? Height, or bulk? Face the basket or post up?
As far as I can see, OU's idea of a traditional power forward has always been a face-up player that can move back and forth between the perimeter and the inside. In other words, the only difference between this and a "4 guard" offense is the height of the 4 player. There's really not much we would need to change about the offense to run, for example, Sharane or Nicole K at the 4.
Gibbs sounds like an athletic player with inside and outside skills that can run like the wind. She may be something of a project, coming from small school competition, but physically she sounds like Angel McCoughtry (who, as I recall, was also something of a project).
If you already have four new signees in addition to a supposedly prize transfer, wouldn't you feel comfortable waiting untill next year if you didn't get someone that you wanted?
Does it mean we are not getting Dunbar? I would love to have her.
We still have room for Dunbar but I'm beginning to lose hope that we are going to sign her. She and Ortiz would be amazing.
Some of the responses seem a little anxious. Let's take a firmer look at what appears to be happening, assuming that Felisha Gibbs does pass her test and signs with OU. This would give OU 14 on scholarship this year, with one ineligible until next year. But, we also have four seniors. This means that we have five openings that could be used to sign anyone and everyone that might wish to come to OU.
The signing of Edwards and Gibbs doesn't mean a thing about whom we have been recruiting or who might be deciding to go elsewhere. Most of those decisions were made in November. I'm rather surprised that we found two that interest us in April. But, there are enough openings that neither signing has anything to do with the 2014 class. Since we do have one commitment for 2014, we can only look now for four (4) other people that we might want to sign, unless someone transfers out.

Dunbar and Ortiz would be pure gold!
