With the contributions of the other players tonight. All we needed was for Fitz to make his contribution. If we can score 80 plus on people and have the contribution of Fitz. We could be a very scary team to deal with. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

That's what I like, different guys stepping up when one of our main guys is having an off-night.

I want to see consistency out of our shooters first. If the jumpers had not been falling this could have been a different game. Especially since Fitz didn't play well tonight. If we shoot well throughout the season like we did tonight we could pull some surprises. But I can't see us putting up 80+ points in conference play but maybe 2 or 3 times. Although this team continues to get better and very well could over achieve, and I like that!

I agree with the conference prognosis, going to have to grind out of those games this year. Seems possible though.

I agree, seems a little more possible every game I watch. :woot

Fitz is out of position at the Center and will struggle if he is counted on to be a back to the basket guy all season (not saying he wont have some good games because he will)...early he will get away with it against smaller and less talented competition, but he is most effective in that PF role where he can step out and hit that little 10-15 ft jumpshot...

I will say we have mainly seen zones thus far and that will cramp a lot of post players scoring, although i would think he would love those because he could pop to the free throw line or the baseline to get some open jumpers...didnt see that

Fitz is not the type of player who will get his points regardless of the defenses he faces. Texas Southern's zone was designed to prevent him from scoring inside, and it worked.

They weren't worried about getting beat from the perimeter. OU was 4 - 17 (26.7 %), 9 - 21 (38.5%) and 13 - 43 (30%) from three in the first three games respectively, so it's easy to see why that was their best strategy to come away with a W. Who would have thought that (thanks to Cade and Pledge) OU would be 13 - 24 (53.8%) from behind the arc in last night's game?

Thompson needs to deflect some of the defensive pressure away from Fitzgerald by becoming more of a threat to score. Our opponents know from watching game film that he looks to pass, usually to Fitz, the majority of times he touches the ball. It's not that he can't score. He's just one of those rare team players who would rather set up his teammates than put points in his own scoring column. Problem is, he pass-first style of play is not what this team needs from him.

Fitz probably won't get a lot of points with his back to the basket game. His greatest strength is to be in the right place at the right time. He is almost always in scoring position when someone is moving toward the hoop.

Last night he took one shot and hit it. Capel should have had him out of the game when he picked up his 4th foul and he never got back in.
