Since he already signed a LOI, we would suddenly be very deep at the post positions. And we would have ALOT of schollies to fill in 2013.

We wouldn't be deep, just appropriately manned.

We would still only have Fitz, Goff and Arent as true big men with Osby and Neal as combo PF/Wings instead of being dramatically undersized like this past season.

We would have Arent and Goff at Center, Fitzgerald, Osby, Neal, Washington and Clark at the 2 Forward spots. Honore could also see time at Forward as well. That's pretty good depth, especially compared against this past season.

If Goff makes it here, I see no way he ever really plays. He's a backup on an average JUCO team.

OK. If Arent is a legit center and Osby is as good as advertised, will Fitz start? I bet he comes off the bench. Nice man to have come in. I think it would benefit him and us to have a skilled post player playing against an opponents number 3 post player.

I bet we start Fitz, and have Arent or whoever come off the bench. We may see some lineup with Osby/Fitz/another post.

Fitz will be our leading returning starter. Having him not start would be about like not starting Cade last year. Nobody would be that dumb. Plege will start also because he's a 10 ppg guy last year.

Not sure that JUCO team suited him real well. He was the #3 JUCO prospect in the Country last year? I know that doesnt mean a thing, but makes me think a whole lot of people believed in what he could do basketball wise.

I think he could play for us still next year. Let Arent redshirt and get better to even out the classes a little better. If Arent isnt ready to play.

If Arent can't beat out a non-rebounding big man like Fitz, then he is not nearly as good as I'm hoping. Rebounding and defense are what we need inside from a starting center. Scoring specialists who can't do much else typically come off the bench. If Fitz starts at center, we will be a poor rebounding team and will probably have a bad year.

Everyone needs to remember that with a new coaching staff, no starters from last years team are guaranteed starting spots this year. They have to go earn it in practice.

Arent isnt going to be beat out Fitz... You need to lower your expectations for this guy! He isnt Nene or Serge Ibaka...(watching them right now)

Oklahoma doesn't need defense and rebounds alone. Points will still be hard for OU to get. And Fitzgerald is probably our best offensive weapon. Pledger is the only one close and he's less consistent on offense so far.

Absolutely correct. It's good to see all of the optimism around here after so much negativity, but come on guys, let's not pretend that Arent is going to come in and be some dominating force. He is a late-bloomer/project kind of guy and I'd be shocked if he provided much impact next year.

I'm not trying to put the kid down, but it's not like the reports on him are glowing. He's a big guy with some potential to improve. Because of that and our current situation the coaching staff thought it was worth a shot to bring him in. Anyone thinking that he is going to come in and supplant Fitz for a starting role is drinking too much kool-aid. Sure it would be great if he could, but realistically I think he's a long shot for any chance of steady contribution next year.

THIS. We need height in the starting 5 as well...bet Fitz isn't even 6 ft 7

Lets get realistic, Arent isn't going to beat out Washington for more minutes. Let's not forget Washington was a 1st team juco All-American and that it usually takes a year for a juco player to be good in D1 ball.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we got Aren't and Grooms(and hopefully Goff as well), but to start penciling them in as starters over Blair and Fitzgerald who started a whole year in D1 bball is premature.

Fitz could be our best player, I would like to see him start at the 4, with Osby or Cam at the 3. I would rather teach him to rebound than bench him. If he has to play the 5 again, with Cam and Osby at the 3 and 4, then that would be a fun line up but we would be going small again.

If Arent is good enough to start at center, which remains to be seen, then Fitz will start at PF. Cam and Osby will start at the wings and either Grooms or Blair will run the point. Adding much needed size to our starting line up.

get realistic? ok. the only person on the planet that thought blair could play d1 ball at in a bcs caliber conference was jeff capel. and the only reason blair ended up starting this past season was that newell was just too erratic early on. while grooms certainly won't be the second coming of something great. coming in here and starting ahead of blair is a given. even from high school blair was considered a very low mid major caliber and grooms a very high mid major. the very first thing out of kruger's mouth was that his recruiting priorities were signing a point guard and a post. i don't think that translates to "i need to find some solid back-ups for blair and fitz" fitz will lose minutes and blair needs to change his major to Riding The Pine.

I'm curious where you found that out.

As for Fitz losing minutes...thats a no brainer b/c we will be deeper at this position. If you think Fitz is losing minutes b/c Aren't is going to be better than him than you will be deeply disappointed.
As for Grooms, the guy avg 8ppg in Juco. I wouldn't pencil him in beating out Blair for more minutes just yet.
